As the holiday draws ever closer, that family dinner sinks in. Friends and family from near and far convening at your table, sharing stories and making memories. Be prepared this year by making some beautiful table accents that will be sure to become highlights of the holidays. We reached out to the bouqs for some tips on adding some festive additions to the table.
Napkin Holder
What you need
- Cloth napkins
- Steel rings
- Floral Tape
- Twine
- 2-3 smaller flowers like spray roses work well but we used one larger tulip, some greenery, a few red berries and some billy balls.
Steps
Assemble the mini-bouquet with the flowers and greenery you choose. Wrap the stems with floral tape to keep it together. Add a small amount of green wire under the tape with some of it exposed.
Place cards
What you need:
- Brown Craft Paper
- 1 darker rose with some greenery works well but we used 1 orange rose with greenery and purple statis to create the “mini bouq”
- Twine
- Small circular tags to write names on them
Steps
This is an easy one! Just make your “mini bouq” and wrap with floral tape at the stems. Roll some brown paper to make a mini cone shape and slide in the bouquet. Write names on the tags and then wrap them around the cone with twine or string.
Wine glass markers
What you need
Choose as many different flowers as you need for the number of wine glasses you have. We used freesia with some greenery like ruscus, pin cushion protea and a dark purple calla Lillie. You’ll also need twine or string
Steps
Simply assemble the flowers and have a friend hold it down against the stem of the glass while you make the first tie. Then wrap the twine around several times and tie tightly in the back.
Flower crown
What you need
- Floral wire
- Floral tape
- Ribbon
- Greenery
- Flowers of your choice
So we actually used a friend of The Bouqs to help us assemble the crowns. Her name is Carolyn Brown from The Crown Collective. Not sure if it’s to our advantage to mention her, but it’s a pretty complicated process to explain although it looked pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
Basically you bend the floral wire to wrap around your head but don’t make a full circle, leave the back open and tie ribbons to the end so they fall down. Choose your flowers and greenery and start wrapping flowers around the crown with floral wire and hold down with floral tape. Add more flowers and greenery as you go until you’re all the way around!
