It’s almost here. In exactly 30 days, our state capital will be overrun by thousands upon thousands of visitors from across the globe to engage in the annual cultural phenomenon that is South By Southwest 2016. Whether or not you’ve been to SXSW before, there is no doubt that the pop culture worlds of Music, Film and Interactivity converge on Austin, TX for 10 days. And we at Texas Lifestyle Magazine could not be more excited to bring the events of those 10 days to the rest of the state.

Starting today, we’re beginning SX60 – to provide guidance, live coverage and review of the SXSW events for the next 60 days. If you want to know what to do, who to see, where to be or what the next trends in technology, film and your favorite songs will be. SXSW has launched the likes of Twitter and Instagram, super-group collaborations between legendary musicians (like Sound City) and films that have gone on to worldwide acclaim (see “Boyhood” from 2014).

This year’s edition promises to be no different, complete with the triumphant return of director, Richard Linklater, to the film schedule with “Everybody Wants Some,” his take on the 1980s. In addition, Music Keynotes by Tony Visconti (producer for the late David Bowie) and James Prince (founder of Houston rap empire, Rap-A-Lot Records) are certain to draw curious audiences as they comment on the impact of the music they’ve helped usher into the world. This, of course, is to say nothing of the paradigm shift that SXSW’s Interactive arm can bring to the table, having been the release point for wearables like the fitbit, Apple Watch and Garmin vivofit, to mention a myriad of other developments.

The only question that remains is whether to be there or not. There is still time to register for any or all of the three iterations of SXSW 2016. But, regardless of your interest in film, music or technology advances, whether you are scheduling your visit or planning to follow along online, Texas Lifestyle Magazine is here to guide you through all that the conference and festival have to offer. Join us for SX60 and be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the next 60 days.
