Eberly’s new brunch is truly a sensual experience. From the visual aesthetics to the developed flavors of the dishes and the velvety textures of the booths, this is a brunch unexperience unlike many others in Austin.

Walking in the door the restaurant feels more like you’re visiting an arboretum than a hip, Austin brunch spot. To the right lush plants drape from the glass ceiling, and throughout the restaurant oversized, colorful floral arrangements complement the whimsical and flirty atmosphere.

To start things off, we sampled a pastry board that was filled with sweet and savory baked goods, including a homemade poptart. The mini brioche loaf is not to be missed. It is light and fluffy and buttery, and it’s best when spread with sea salt butter and whatever seasonal preserves are served along with it. We were lucky enough to sample the rhubarb compote, which offered a perfect tang with the creamy, salty butter. Other standouts included a lemon ricotta muffin with sliced almonds, a peanut butter and jelly poptart and a brioche bun with manchego cheese and bacon. The mini brioche loaf is a mainstay, while the muffin, poptart and brioche bun flavors change week to week.

For main dishes, the hot cakes were the stars of the show. Three pancakes piled high with blueberry compote, warm maple syrup and creme fraiche delighted me beyond words. The Crab ‘n’ Grits with soft shell crab and gristmill grits are a rich and savory option with a unique take on classic shrimp and grits. Other brunch offerings include Eberly’s take on chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, breakfast calzone, and the Prime Burger, which could make anyone’s burger dreams come true. With grilled jalapenos, slices of creamy avocado and a perfectly fried egg, this burger is meant to be Instagrammed and then devoured. I suggest getting a few dishes (especially the hot cakes) and sharing with the table. You’ll want to try bites of several different things, and portions are not small.

If you’re waiting for a table or you’re looking for a digestif, venture past the kitchen to Cedar Tavern, named for famous New York City bar of the same name. Eberly owners John Scott and Eddy Patterson transported the massive mahogany bar top from the shuttered bar in 2006. Here you’ll find exquisite cocktails and filling bar bites.

Eberly is as much a treat for your Instagram feed as it is for your tastebuds. It’s the perfect spot to impress your in- laws or for a place to go when you need a little glam in your life.

Brunch is offered Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
