With an invitation to hobnob with Dallas’ ghosts of the past, the newly refurbished, historic Longhorn Ballroom welcomes Halloween revelers to a fang-tastic evening. Those 21 and older can come as they are or celebrate the fall holiday by donning their favorite costume and enjoying all-inclusive food and beverages, live entertainment, a silent auction with charity partner North Texas Food Bank and more. The Foodie Experience Fall-O-Ween Fest runs Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28 at the Longhorn Ballroom, one of the oldest live music venues in Dallas, and a cultural landmark.

A vital piece of Lone Star history, the Longhorn Ballroom has hosted many famous Dallas soirees of yesteryear. It has seen one of the most infamous Dallas concerts, the 1978 Sid Vicious and the Sex Pistols spectacle; the 1978 making of “The Buddy Holly Story;” and the filming of several episodes of “Dallas“ in the ’80s. Celebrities Gary Busey and Mick Jagger have frequented its halls and Aerosmith recorded their 1989 music video, “What It Takes,” under its roof.

This weekend, event goers will bask in the opulence of the newly renovated venue. Originally built by millionaire O.L. Nelms to lure famous country singer Bob Wills back to Texas from California, the 23,000 square-foot dance hall later sold to country music mainstay Dewey Groom after years of being managed by Lee Harvey Oswald‘s assassin Jack Ruby.

Now, the ballroom has been returned to its 1960s glory, and the iconic glittering Longhorn Ballroom sign has been restored to its original condition. The new owners, the LaFrance family, have worked tirelessly with famed area artists such as muralist Stylle Read and Interior Designer Heather Hines Teel, to bring the oldest dance hall in North Texas into the 21st century, while keeping its down-home charm.

“We’re thrilled to host The Foodie Experience Fall-O-Ween Fest as one of our first events since the reopening of the historic Longhorn Ballroom. It’s important for us support the best live music, eats and drinks our city has to offer and celebrate what makes the ‘Big D’ so great,” said Jay LaFrance.

Friday and Saturday nights’ feasts will feature tempting tastings from more than 50 chefs, restaurants and culinary artisans, including top restaurants Tillman’s Roadhouse, Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse, Knife, Meso Maya, Paul Martin’s American Grill, Stirr and many more. There will be a variety of tasty vegan and vegetarian offerings as well as decadent desserts to satisfy the most discriminating sweet tooth. In addition, a dozen culinary artisans will be on hand in the Artisan Market, offering samples and take-home temptations.

And there’s more! With dozens of sensational wines, craft beers and a variety of spirits and exquisite mixed-cocktails as part of the all-inclusive night, guests can also relax and enjoy a sample of scotch or gin and a premium cigar in the Casa De Montecristo Cigar Lounge. And, naturally in the revitalized Longhorn Ballroom, live music will fill the air both nights so bring your boogey shoes. Get your freak on Friday evening with “the greatest disco band in the world,” Le Freak. Costume wearers can show off their best Daenerys Targaryen or Jon Snow at the evening’s costume contest, with three winners each night winning cash and other great prizes.
