Committing to a resolution is hard.
And finding what’s healthy and good for you is difficult in an overwhelming food landscape. For many of us, the biggest challenge is finding time for meal prepping. So, this January, why not consider going plan-based?
One of the Texas-based players in this growing field is Snap Kitchen—which started in Austin in 2010, calls itself the “one-stop healthy meal shop,” and kicks butt on Instagram. And these days has locations in Dallas/Fort Worth (10) and Houston (11) as well as Austin (8).
The Snap Meal Plan Subscriptions are what meal planning should be—no grocery shopping, calculating, portioning, or chicken and broccoli on repeat. Some of the things we like about the subscriptions are:
Fully Prepared
Snap Kitchen does all the hard work, from sourcing the freshest ingredients to prepping, cooking, portioning, and cleaning, so the only thing needed is to heat and eat when hungry.
Customizable Menu
You start with a preset plan but then meals and snacks can be swapped within the plan to match personal taste or other dietary preferences. You can do it either on the website or Snap app.
Fully Planned
Snap’s in-house dietitian creates 3, 5, and 7 day plans to match your lifestyle and dietary goals.
Flexibility
Plans start at $28.99 per day (that includes breakfast, lunch and dinner), and you can skip a week, change plans, or cancel anytime—only order when and what you want. And delivery’s free.
There’s no “one size fits all” when it comes to healthy living
There’s no “one size fits all” when it comes to healthy living, which is why Snap offers a variety of meal plan styles and sizes to choose from. You select a calorie goal (1200, 1500, 1800 calories; 3 meals and 2 snacks per day) after picking the meal plan that suits your dietary lifestyle.
The range of meal plans at Snap is pretty good—although there is no specific plan for vegetarians, which we would have liked to have seen. However, vegetarian meals can be swapped into the standard plans.
The plans include:
Whole30 This real food-focused nutritional reset eliminates grains, dairy, legumes, soy, and added sugar for 30 days.
Balance “Comfort food with a healthy twist to create meals you crave that help you feel amazing,” says Snap. Sounds good to us!
Paleo Eliminate processed foods and go back to basics—no grains or dairy; instead, enjoy Snap’s healthy hacks, like chicken enchiladas and grass-fed beef lasagna.
Low Carb This plan focuses on healthy fat and satisfying protein—with enough complex carbs to keep you going.
High protein Complete with the fuel and extra protein needed to build muscle, promote recovery, maintain an active lifestyle, and still meet your health goals.
