The exterior makes you think of New York fashion designers working in a secret warehouse in Brooklyn, but inside this particular building is an exciting world of fashion and styling with a truly authentic Texas twist.

There’s something that feels exclusive about driving up to the nondescript white building of Front Door Fashion in the Design District. And I had the opportunity to experience their services firsthand.

Front Door Fashion is a fashion service that employs professional stylists who can expertly dress any woman with over 200 clothing and accessory brands they have on-site. After filling out a personal style survey, online customers are given a professional stylist who they can call, text or email to pull items to send to them in the mail. With a $100 deposit down, customers try on the clothes when they arrive, send back whatever they don’t want, and apply the $100 deposit to their total purchase.

Personal stylist Mary Claire showed Alex to the racks of clothing she had picked out, guided by the style survey Alex completed before her appointment at Dallas-based Front Door Fashion.

But that’s just one part of Front Door Fashion.

Customers also have the opportunity to visit the space in Dallas and try on clothes with their own personal stylist in the company’s brand new style room. As soon as I discovered this unique shopping experience, I booked a style appointment with my stylist, Mary Claire.

Mary Claire met me at the door and showed me to my extremely large fitting room, decked out in a white and gray palette with a cozy couch, table with my drink of choice and racks of clothing she had picked out for me with the help of my style survey. We sat and talked for a bit, discussing what I was looking for in terms of my style needs, what brands I liked and didn’t like, my own style concerns—such as not finding pants that fit my legs and hips—and my aversion to wearing pink.

Front Door Fashion carries many brands in house, including Trina Turk, BCBG, AG Jeans, Michael Stars, Diane Von Furstenberg and House of Harlow.

Then the fun part happened – I tried on clothes! Mary Claire handed me outfit after outfit, explaining the assorted brands they carry, including Trina Turk, BCBG, AG Jeans, Michael Stars, Diane Von Furstenberg and House of Harlow. I learned Front Door Fashion also has eco-friendly brands, brands designed by women and Texas brands like Sarah Briggs, Paige, Finley, Askari, Southcott, Molly Phillips and Thistle Ore Co.

It was an eye-opening experience. We went through jeans, learning which brands fit me well and which didn’t. We mixed and matched tops with skirts and flared, loose pants. I would never have put together striped linen pants with a deep pink top and a jean jacket, but it was a look I loved! Mary Claire even convinced me to try on a frilly pink off-the-shoulder top which I actually liked. With Mary Claire and Front Door Fashion I was more adventurous, trying on outfits, colors and cuts that I wouldn’t normally have tried.

Front Door Fashion is for women of all ages and their stylists are as diverse in body type and background as their customers.

In the end, I learned a lot about fashion and and also a lot about Front Door Fashion. Women-founded and women-led companies—like Front Door Fashion—aren’t common in the fashion industry, and having personal stylists who answer your inquiries immediately is even less common.

Front Door Fashion is for women of all ages and their stylists are as diverse in body type and background as their customers. They’ve built a system that helps the modern woman who needs to focus on work, kids, etc. and doesn’t want to waste time sifting through racks in Nordstrom or ordering online from brands that may or may not fit them. At Front Door Fashion, the stylists can fit you for work, casual dinners, vacation, parties and more. The in-person style appointments are perfect for a fun mother-daughter outing or a girlfriends getaway shopping experience. And don’t forget, if you can make it into Front Door Fashion for a style appointment, you get $100 off your first purchase.

This green shirt and white top will pair perfectly with many other items in Alex’s closet.

You better believe I put that $100 to good use and bought myself a cream top and a green skirt I loved that will work perfectly with other pieces in my closet. I’m so glad to have worked with Mary Claire and the ladies of Front Door Fashion because any time I need a box of clothes or an in-house style run, I know they have my sizes, my preferences and the clothes I need for any occasion.
