With easy access to downtown, and upwards of 50 concerts a year, the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion has become a favorite destination for Houston concertgoers.

Located in The Woodlands, the performing arts venue is also the preferred “away” venue for the Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera and the Texas Music Festival Orchestra.

While many associate The Pavilion with lawn seating (it has 10,000 lawn seats), the concert venue also offers 6,500 covered seats – a great view no matter where you are sitting. (The Pavilion is also a pillar of the community, offering education around the arts, training for young artists, and new and diverse entertainment to its audiences.)

While I was there, I learned a few tips and tricks to level up your concert experience. Guests are allowed to bring in a blanket for lawn seating and a 1-gallon zip top bag with food or snacks. Although no outside beverages are allowed in, guests can bring empty water bottles. (Filtered water bottle refill stations are located throughout the venue, so getting a cool drink is a breeze.) There’s free parking just a short walk away, so there’s no need to pay for that, either. As with any concert venue, make sure to check the website for security information before getting there—you don’t want to be turned away at the gate.

On the evening that I visited, security took a few minutes, but once I made it inside there was room to spread out with several areas for concessions, concert merchandise and restrooms. Season ticket holders and box seat owners have access to the Woodforest Bank Club, which offers three full size bars, full service dining and even covered seating where you can enjoy the show. As I mentioned, there is not a bad seat in the house and the lighting, large screens and stage displays make the show truly an experience to enjoy.

If you don’t live nearby, a concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is a great excuse to take a short vacation.

I had a fun weekend getaway at The Woodlands Resort, which is always a hit with kids and husbands alike because of golf and water park fun. You will also want to check out the Market Street shopping center with not only great shops, but restaurants as well. Don’t forget to make time for some water activities at Riva Row Boathouse where you can rent a kayak, stand-up paddleboard or just hang out and enjoy the water.

A great concert experience is only one of the many great activities available to enjoy while visiting The Woodlands.
