It’s rodeo and gala season in Texas, which means a chance to don your best dresses and cowboy boots, ladies. Yet, as we all know, dress shopping can be painful as we search for a flattering fit.

Now, you can relax, as I’ve curated dresses for each body type. All of these styles are easy to find and will stun for your next event whether it be for rodeo fun or gala glamour. Use this as a guide to make your shopping fun and free of stress. Remember to be creative and add accessories and fun shoes to make the look pop. Happy Shopping!

Petite

A mini dress is amazing for a tiny frame. It shows off your petite structure and the shorter hemline will make your legs appear longer. Add a nude heel to elongate the leg, thus drawing attention to the dress and not the shoe. For cocktail galas, try this dress by Bebe. Jacquard is very popular right now and this gold number will pair perfectly with nude pumps.

Pear Shape

A-line dresses are so flattering for pear-shaped women. The fitted top draws attention to the bust and the A-line bottom flair makes the look proportional. For a bohemian look for the rodeo, try this dress found on Lily Boutique. Throw on a jean jacket and some tan cowboy boots and you have a very Texas boho chic look.

Athletic

Try a peplum dress. They are so flattering for athletic-framed gals as they add to the waistline, giving you a nice balance to broader shoulders. Kate Middleton dons this dress style so well and always looks so polished and put together. For upcoming galas, try this dress by Alice and Olivia found on Farfetch.

Plus Size

The wrap dress is your best friend, and every closet must host a great wrap dress. It draws the eye to the bust line and the wrap waist provides a nice waistline giving you an hourglass figure. This black dress by Gap would be amazing with turquoise jewelry and a great pair of floral cowboy boots by Macie Bean adding a pop of print to the look.

Hourglass

Belted or cinched waist dresses provide a nice canvas to show off your hourglass figure as they separate your bust and bottom. Or, belt an A-line dress. For galas and non profit events, try this chic black dress by Badgley Mischka found on Shopbop. Have some fun with the black, and pair it back to a colorful shoe for a pop of color.

Tall

Pencil dresses are a great option for taller gals. They provide sophistication and will leave you looking statuesque. (Amal Clooney pulls off this look very well.) This dress found at Nordstrom is the most sensational blue and will complement any skin color. Pair it back to a metallic gold heel for a polished on-trend look.
