Texas Writers Month is back, just in time for the statewide event’s 25th anniversary.

Begun in 1994 to support Texas authors and writers with book signings, readings, events and celebrations across the state, Texas Writers Month fizzled out around 2000 because no one was carrying the torch. “When I started in book publicity in 1997, Texas Writers Month was a big deal,” says Marika Flatt, founder of PR by the Book, an Austin-based book publicity firm which is leading the charge to relaunch the event. “It was a way for everyone to celebrate authors around Texas.”

Whether you’re a native Texan or you got here as quickly as you could, there’s no doubt that Texas has got every kind of writer to keep your TBR stack filled. Keep supporting Texas writers and Texas Writers Month will become a strong tradition for many years to come.
