Yauatcha is beautiful, refined and ultra-cool – the makings of a great weekend brunch. And let’s not forget the authentic, delicious food.

A Chinese dim sum teahouse, Yauatcha launched into the fine dining scene in London in 2015. Within in a year it earned a Michelin star and much critical acclaim. There are now two locations in London, three in India, as well as locations in Saudi Arabia and Houston.

To the delight of the avid brunchers of the Bayou City, there’s a new dim sum brunch offering on Saturday and Sundays, complete with a boozy brunch cocktail list and—as always—fine desserts.

Here are our five ways to achieve your #brunchgoals at Yauatcha.

1. Dim Sum

Dim sum brunch at Yauatcha fully embraces the concept of leisurely dining. After all, the large meal is traditionally served on weekends, when people have more time to relax, to enjoy multiple courses and quality time with friends or family.

There are two parts to the Yauatcha brunch menu; a fried and baked section plus a steamed section. Plates come out with a mixture of dishes from both parts. Guests will love the Wagyu Beef Puff – served in pastry that falls apart in your mouth. The Roasted Duck Pumpkin Puff is a seasonal favorite shaped to look like a mini pumpkin and tastes both sweet and savory. Everything on the dim sum menu is delicious, but one of the standouts is the Lobster Dumpling with Tobiko Caviar – you’ll definitely want more of this little morsel.

2. Brunch Cocktails

Brunch isn’t complete without tasty cocktails, and Yauatcha serves them up every Saturday and Sunday from 11 – 4. Menu favorites include the Lapsang Sling made with show-stopping black tea infused gin – the drink is served in tall glass and is as pretty to look at as it is to taste. The Hemingway Daiquiri is an elegant drink made with Plantation 3 Stars rum and maraschino liqueur. Yauatcha doesn’t leave brunch mainstay cocktails off the list either; Bloody Mary, Mimosa and Micheladas are also available.

3. Dessert

Yauatcha is known for their beautiful desserts, all made inhouse in their very own patisserie. Executive Pastry Chef Juan Pablo Colubri uses European cooking techniques to make macarons, petit gateaux and chocolates. They’re the perfect way to end any meal. And, they’re so good, you may be tempted to order a second to-go.

4. Atmosphere

The contemporary design incorporates traditional Chinese elements at Yauatcha. The restaurant is sleek and modern with a large open kitchen where guests can watch the dishes being prepared. Each color of the five feng shui elements is represented, and there is beautiful lighting throughout. Guests may also enjoy outdoor and bar seating.

5. Location

The restaurant is conveniently located outside the Westin Oaks Galleria, adjacent to The Webster. Although everyone knows brunch calories don’t count, if you feel like walking off a few, just head next door to the Galleria for some exercise and window shopping. Valet parking is always available, so getting in and out of Yauatcha is always a breeze.
