Looking for a unique, quintessentially “Texas” holiday event this year? Look no further than Old West Christmas Light Fest at Enchanted Springs Ranch.
Outside of scenic Boerne, Old West Christmas Light Fest features winding, entertaining and breathtaking outdoor Christmas light displays that you do drive through, but this is NOT a drive-thru event! Don’t skedaddle, y’all…park the car, stay a spell, and mosey around Enchanted Springs Ranch because there is so much to see and do in the glow of this charming, lit-to-the-hilt Old West town.
And fun fact: the ranch has been used as a Hollywood movie set and has been the backdrop for both H-E-B and San Antonio Spurs video shoots. Now you know you have to go check it out, especially with all the fun in store for this year!
1. Synchronized Christmas Light Show
New to Old West Christmas Light Fest for 2019, the Hinojosa Family of Boerne, whose choreographed Christmas light display at their home grabbed the attention of The Today Show, Good Morning America, and Jimmy Fallon—not to mention becoming a viral video sensation—have taken over Old West Christmas Light Fest. This talented family has curated a special musical show with the lights at Enchanted Springs Ranch that is sure to be this year’s viral video sensation.
2. Santa Claus and his Holly, Jolly Herd of Texas Longhorns
If you have any fans of “the big man in red” in your life, then they’ll be delighted to get to visit with him. And, accompanying Santa is his Holly Jolly Herd of real, live Texas longhorns, who get to graze and rest up at the ranch, ahead of their big Christmas Eve trip. Get up close and personal with these gentle giants and have photos made as you whisper all of your Christmas wishes to Santa himself!
3. Laser Tag and Escape Rooms
New this year, is a state of the art laser tag field, nestled among the glowing trees at the ranch. The perfect way to burn off those extra cookies and a fun team-building activity (or friendly competition) for coworkers, family or friends, laser tag at Old West Christmas Light Fest is sure to become a new holiday tradition.
Two new Escape Rooms encourage visitors to put their noggins to good use and collaborate with friends and family while working together to save Christmas. Gather your squad and escape the holiday stress in a unique way.
4. Cookie Decorating Class
Taught by a master baker, you can perfect the art of piping and flooding, using Royal Icing, and even take the secret icing recipe home with you to use for years to come. Make an evening at Old West Light Fest a fun girls’ night out, or date night, while attending the cookie decorating class. Classes will be held December 1, 5, 8 and 19 and general admission to the Light Fest is included.
5. Games, Activities, Food and Fun
There are more games and activities at Old West Christmas Light Fest than you can shake a marshmallow roasting stick at! (Did we mention the s’mores making, by campfire?) Jumbo Jenga, cornhole, a scavenger hunt, a light maze…there is an activity to please even the Scroogiest folks in your group (and possibly even those teens who are too cool for holiday outings with the family). Sip on beer or wine and get a jump start on your holiday shopping at the vendor booths, many featuring locally handcrafted items. Food trucks keep a variety of holiday flavors waiting for you to enjoy and live music is sure to put you in the holiday mood. Be sure to check out the new Candyland Instagram room!
