Built in 1986 as part of an elaborate stone triangle including an office tower, a deluxe hotel and upscale shopping, Hotel Crescent Court in uptown Dallas sits on a mighty throne. With 226 rooms including a 3,000 square foot multi-level suite, the Crescent aims to impress.
Beginning with the art flying over the lobby, from sought-after designers Waldrop + Nichols and part of a 2018 renovation, the design easily flows over the lobby, entrancing guests upon arrival.
Pre-pandemic, the hotel hosted over 50 weddings per year so now is the time to take advantage of special package deals available on their website. (As we say, their loss is your gain!)
Guests are a variety of leisure travelers (especially those looking for a shopping mecca), staycationers and, with SMU close by, a lot of parents visiting their college offspring. In addition, Hotel Crescent Court as one of only a handful of American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts in Dallas caters to the luxe and high-end corporate traveler.
The Neighborhood
The biggest draws are definitely related to location, location, location! Uptown Dallas grew around the Crescent, which was the former site of a hodgepodge of old car dealerships. The hotel is walkable to several parks, offers a free trolley to the nearby museum district, and several adorable cafes pepper the area. (There are 150+ restaurants within a mile of the hotel.) Check out www.UptownDallasInc.com for a schedule of local happenings.
Spa & Wellness
The Spa at the Crescent was the beneficiary of $3 million out of a $6 million hotel renovation a few years ago. The 22,000 square foot spa and wellness center boasts 16 treatment rooms, separate women’s and men’s lounge and wet areas, and offers treatments (or, should I say, “TREATments!) for the healing of body and mind. Spa amenities include a hot jacuzzi next to a cold plunge, a dry sauna and steam room.
“We were socially distancing before Texas was social distancing,” explains Marketing Manager Amanda Escobedo. “The size of rooms are generous, there are no ice machines on floors, the spa is secluded, and everything is very spacious.”
Dining Options
In the hotel’s courtyard, you certainly don’t feel like you’re in the middle of the busiest part of Dallas. In the urban oasis that is The Conservatory, guests can enjoy brunch outside in a relaxing atmosphere of shade and fountains. Sip on a fragrant illy coffee while munching on something as basic as a toasted bagel with cream cheese or as elaborate as the berry-flanked Belgian waffle.
Developed by concept chef Julian Barsotti and Glen Collins, the pandemic pop-up Ritas & Queso has become widely popular and has now evolved into a mainstay concept. And it’s so simple it is brilliant. Namely, margarita, queso and other delicious Tex-Mex offerings delivered straight to the Court! The concept was created out of pure necessity to aid restaurant workers displaced due to COVID-19, but now Ritas & Queso is here for the long run. Their Tex-Mex snacks (queso, salsa, chips — paired with frozen margs, of course) are available for delivery or pick-up Monday through Saturday.
Bottom Line
The pool is the Crescent’s biggest challenge during these times because it’s so small. Therefore, it gets busy on the weekends but is fairly quiet during the week.
A few interesting facts related to the hotels sanitation protocols:
- Crescent Court uses Ecolab products and electrostatic spray machines.
- Staff wait 24 hours after a guest has checked out before they go into clean and wait another 24 hours after cleaning before another guest goes in. This indeed shows a high level of caution (at the risk of revenue) to keep their guests safe.
But, the true bottom line is their rooms — blissful bedding, expansive bathroom and clean minimalism in the design, which we love. You’ll be the queen or king of the court in your room at The Crescent!
The average nightly room rate varies from $199 to $5,000. That’s a really big range so, more specifically, an average rate for a superior king is $308 and junior suite is $575/night. However, remember to check their website for regular specials.
