With to-go food made fresh, easy, and healthy, Austin’s locally owned MezzeMe offers hearty entrees, appetizers, and treats, along with the chance for a cultural experience right from your living room.
The restaurant is also open for indoor dining but, for those staying home, curbside pickup is inviting, quick and contactless.
Now is the perfect time to try MezzeMe because they recently upgraded their menu with new Turkish-inspired salads, protein plates, hamburgers, pita pockets, wraps and Turkish flatbreads, including traditional pide. Hearty and savory dishes with farm fresh vegetables are in abundance on the flavorful menu that has something for everyone.
For a light start, a MezzeMe pide is great for an appetizer or happy hour snack. Topped with mozzarella, you can choose additional toppings to customize your flatbread. I chose spinach. The perfect light, breaded, slightly buttery treat, pide can also be topped with Turkish meats and even a fried egg, if you are feeling like something that more closely resembles a brunch.
As a nutritious entrée, I really enjoyed MezzeMe’s flavorful Golden Glow Bowl. Crazy grain rice along with farm fresh vegetables roasted in a brick oven and tossed with turmeric and extra virgin olive oil, blackeyed peas, spinach and arugula, the veggies (which also include squash, carrots and zucchini) in this dish will definitely help add some “healthy glow” into your life. Several dressings are available, but the lemon tahini adds Turkish lemon texture without being cream-based.
To add a savory, slightly more indulgent treat, you can’t go wrong with MezzeMe’s Deluxe Doner Fries. Delicately sliced doner made from beef and lamb are served over French fries topped with feta cheese, pickled red cabbage, red onion, tomato, cucumber and MezzeMe’s house warm buttery tomato sauce, along with cool tzatziki.
If you’re going to check out MezzeMe, don’t forget dessert. I enjoyed a Walnut Baklava. A flaky, sweet dessert, baklava is basically pastry stuffed with – in this case – walnut, along with honey and nuts. Paired with a MezzeMe Turkish tea, the dessert is a great post-meal or snack option.
Farm fresh simplicity woven with lively Turkish spices and Mediterranean flavors is definitely the overall theme of the menu. Based on my experience, I don’t think there is anything on the MezzeMe menu that wouldn’t delight.
MezzeMe’s complete menu is available online. With the belief that “food is an expression of the soul”, Turkish native Mahmud Ugur opened the restaurant in 2017. One last fun fact – MezzeMe means “my appetizer” in Turkish. If you’d like to give MezzeMe a try, they are open for in-restaurant dining, curbside pickup or delivery, Monday – Sunday, 11 am to 9 pm.
