This Texas town was named for a nearby limestone cave where Mexican honey bees swarmed, but 160 years later, the buzz is about much more.

For those looking for a buzz of adventure, I suggest checking out Lake Travis ZipLine Adventures. The three-hour guided adventure includes a total of five ziplines, ranging from 300 feet to over 2,800 feet, with the last three lines being the longest and fastest in Texas. The adventure includes all the necessary equipment, boat transportation and water to keep you hydrated on the hike. While waiting between each zip, you will enjoy amazing views of Lake Travis and the Texas Hill Country!

Other than the amazing views you’ll experience while soaring across the beautiful lake, I appreciated the safety precautions taken throughout the adventure. Temperatures are taken for all guests and employees upon arrival while face masks and social distancing are required. I also loved how the tour guides did a great job of explaining how to zipline in a simple, yet fun way.

After a fun-filled day of exploring the outdoors, settle in at the Sonesta Bee Cave Hotel. Located in the heart of Bee Cave, this contemporary chic, yet laid-back hotel is welcoming with unmatched style and Texas charm. Enjoy the expansive views of the Texas landscape from your room or head up to Sonesta’s upscale rooftop lounge, Meridian 98. Enjoy the creative cocktails and speciality plates fashioned after an authentic London club. The fried pickles were so delicious and crispy and the bacon-wrapped shrimp were so flavorful my tastebuds were buzzing with bliss. On the drinks side of things, a cocktail called The Buzz, which consisted of Dripping Springs Vodka, fresh strawberries, lemon juice, and soda water, quickly proved to me how it got its name.

If you’re seeking pure relaxation for the weekend, enjoy a pampering spa day or refresh in the hotel’s swimming pool, courtyard and fitness center. Hike the well-known Hamilton Pool Preserve or enjoy a nice winter picnic at one of the unique parks, such as Bee Cave Sculpture Park or Pace Bend Park. And if the mood strikes, stroll across the street to the Hill Country Galleria for international shopping or, shall I say, retail therapy.

If you’re still buzzing for more excitement, Bee Cave’s First Annual (that’s right, first!) Winter Light Festival takes place December 17-19 at the Hill Country Galleria Plaza. Buzzfest will showcase six augmented reality art works and interactive and digital light installations. There will be original musical compositions and visually stunning choreographed light art performances by nationally acclaimed artists. This free to the public art festival will allow plenty of space for visitors to socially distance, safely explore the festival and enjoy the many other holiday festivities and shopping offered. 

The City of Bee Cave is a Texas gem filled with a bounty of year-round, family-oriented activities and attractions for anyone looking to explore the Texas Hill Country this holiday season.
