Let’s explore all the reasons to make Copper Mountain, Colorado, your ski destination this season.
With so many skiing options throughout the States, it can be hard to choose one, but there are so many unique qualities to Colorado’s Copper that make it stick out from the masses. Here are just six.
1. A Mountain for All Skill Levels
Unlike most mountains, Copper is fun and enjoyable for all types of skiers. The mountain is divided into three sections, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. This means that if you are visiting with kiddos who are just learning to ski, this mountain is perfect because they can learn on the west side without any worries of being trampled by a pro skier or snowboarder. The way the mountain is set up prevents stress because it helps you to avoid ending up on a black diamond when you were looking for an easy-going blue.
2. Uphill Opportunities
If you are comfortable with the backcountry, there are uphill passes that allow you to pick and choose the routes you want to take. For the less experienced and newcomers, there are private uphill tours. The uphill activities allow a different experience on the mountain, so it’s awesome to have a mountain that has so many different adventures awaiting during your time there.
3. A Multitude of Dining Options in the Villages
Center Village is the main hub for lifts, lodging and restaurants. There are great options for breakfast before you hit the slopes, such as Toast & Co. if you are looking for a sit down meal and Camp Hale Coffee if you are eager to get your skis on and looking for something a little faster. The best options for lunch on a busy day of skiing are Downhill Duke’s and Jack’s Bar. And, the best way to wrap up a long day on the mountain is a delicious apres-ski meal at the likes of Ten Mile Tavern and Sawmill Pizza & Tap House.
4. Woodward Terrain Park
Woodward Copper offers year-round excitement and adrenaline, whether it be snow-covered terrain parks throughout the mountain or a 19,400 ft indoor terrain park, with skateparks, Olympic-grade trampolines, and much more. Also, there are guided programs for everyone at any time, summer or winter, non-athletes or intense athletes, such as summer camps, lessons, drop-in sessions at The Barn and much more!
5. New Lifts Mean Easy Mountain Access
Getting up into the depths of Copper Mountain is easy thanks to the multitude of lifts scattered throughout the runs. Most lifts seat at least four people, some even six. This gets skiers up the mountain quicker, which gets the lift lines moving pretty fast at the bottom of the mountain. Pro Tip: The American Flyer has a bubble which is very useful on a snowy day to keep you warm on the ride up.
6. Accessibility from the Villages
Copper Mountain, with its three distinct villages has unique lodging options throughout. The mountain is so connected to the villages, especially Center and East, it makes accessibility to the mountain quick and easy. The mountain is only a short walk or bus ride away, which is very helpful, especially when your arms are filled with ski gear.
