Rising Country music artist Alaura Lynne is making a big slash and a statement as to who she is not with her latest release, “I Ain’t a Bitch.”
How did your interest in country music begin?
I have always loved country music. I grew up listening to it with my Dad.
When you were younger, did you aspire to be a singer or did you have another career choice in mind?
I never thought I was good at anything, so I didn’t really have any big goals. We moved a lot and I was mainly trying to get by. I was also shy growing up and never sang in front of anyone, so I didn’t realize I could even sing until I was in my twenties. I waited tables and went to cosmetology school and dabbled in promotional modeling for a bit. I found out I could sing while at a wedding in East Texas. The reception turned into a karaoke afterparty, and I was singing Crazy by Patsy Cline when the DJ pointed out that he thought I had something. That was the first time I’d ever thought singing was something I should or even could pursue as a career.
What do you like about living in Texas?
I love the food in Texas: BBQ and TexMex! People are also very friendly here.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I don’t have a lot of spare time these days, but when I do I love to just relax and watch a movie. A girls’ night is always good for the soul, too.
What has been your most exciting career accomplishment so far?
The making of my first album has been the most exciting. I can’t wait for the world to hear it.
Tell us about your recent single, “I Ain’t a Bitch.” Why this song?
Get ready for it to be stuck in your head! It’s extremely catchy. Writer and co-producer, Bobby Huff, sent me the song while I was working on another music video. A few months went by and someone asked my producer if I was nice and easy to work with, or if I was a bitch…When I heard that comment a light bulb went off. I knew I had to record I Ain’t a Bitch and I knew it had to be the first release! Anyone who knows me knows I’m the furthest thing from a bitch and this song is right off the bat answering that question if anyone is wondering. The lyrics can be shocking at first, but it’s all in good fun! I think after hearing this song and the ones I’ll be putting out next, people will really get to know who I am, and who I am as an artist.
What is one fun fact most people (or few people) would not know about you?
I secretly think with some training I could have been a UFC fighter. I have some powerful elbows (and maybe just some deep seeded anger, too).
Who has influenced you the most in Country music and how have they influenced you?
Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, and Celine Dion are big influences. They sound great and are each powerful female artists and personalities. They have shown me that just being yourself is what makes you stand out.
What has been your biggest frustration and what has satisfied you the most about your career?
The AC going out during a two-day music video shoot was very irritating. We thankfully got the shots. I’m most satisfied that I am putting out music and videos that I love.
