Get Ready for a Texas-Sized Country Music Showdown as the CMT Music Awards Return to Austin

Austin will roll out the red carpet once again for Nashville royalty as the CMT Music Awards return to the Moody Center on Sunday, April 7, 2024. The show will air LIVE on the CBS Television Network from
7:00-10:00 p.m. CST. 

“The CMT Music Awards are coming back to Austin in 2024, and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Austin Mayor Kirk Watson. “As the ‘Live Music Capital of the World,’ Austin is no stranger to celebrating its vibrant music community and showcasing an eclectic array of musical talents. We’re proud that the CMT Music Awards are returning to Austin, and we can’t wait to welcome artists and visitors to our city.”

Four-time GRAMMY®-nominated global superstar Kelsea Ballerini will return as solo host of the awards show, as well as perform LIVE. Also performing live that night will be Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson, Sam Hunt, Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, Old Dominion and Parker McCollum + Brittney Spencer.

Winners of CMT Music Awards are selected by the fans who can vote online for their favorites in nine different categories through April 1.  Voting for “Video of the Year” will remain active into the live show. Fans can return to the website and vote every day.

Top nominees this year are Cody Johnson, Jelly Roll, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson and Megan Moroney with three nominations each. For the night’s most-coveted category, “Video of the Year,” 16 acts will compete in the first round of voting, including Jelly Roll, Jordan Davis and Parmalee who all make first-time appearances in the category, as well as Kane Brown who will vie for back-to-back titles this year with Mickey Guyton.

In addition to LIVE performances and awards, Trisha Yearwood will be recognized when she receives the inaugural  ‘June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award’. Inspired by country pioneer June Carter Cash, the award recognizes an artist, duo/group or industry veteran who demonstrates an exceptional dedication to community and their fellow artists, embodying June’s spirit as a fierce advocate and initiator in paying it forward, helping others find their voice and using their platform to inspire and uplift others.

Yearwood’s extensive philanthropy includes her long-standing work with Habitat for Humanity over the past two decades, including the Carter Work Project and National Women Build Week. She was named a Habitat Humanitarian in 2016 with husband Garth Brooks. Additionally, her charitable involvement extends to establishing Dottie’s Yard to help animal rescues, Stanford Women’s Cancer Center, American Cancer Society, Humane Society, Grammy Foundation MusiCares, Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential, Starkey Hearing Foundation, Susan B. Komen Foundation, among many others.
