The Moody Center was transformed into a pulsating hub of musical energy as Cage the Elephant brought their “Neon Pill” tour to Austin on Thursday, July 11.
Their blend of garage rock grit and infectious hooks showcased their musical prowess. They commanded the venue with a relentless energy which flowed through the crowd as fans were on their feet, singing along with every song.
Rising artists Willow Avalon and English singer Bakar started the night off before giving way to indie rock band Young the Giant.
Known for their hits “Cough Syrup” and “My Body,” Young the Giant’s performance was the perfect lead in for Cage the Elephant.
Once Cage the Elephant started “Broken Boy” with six columns of pyrotechnics, the crowd knew they were in for a treat. Front man Matt Shultz’s charisma and energy fed the crowd as the band churned through a setlist perfectly balanced with songs from their new “Neon Pill” album as well as classic hits.
With moments of raw intensity and heartfelt emotion, Cage the Elephant proved once again why they are revered as one of the most electrifying acts in contemporary rock music.
