Curious About Sandals Royal Curacao?

This little island is a favorite among the social media crowd, but lesser known by Texans in general. A very safe island (the only thing to watch out for is leaving items in a locked car), the locals are very friendly, and the town of Willemstad is extremely walkable with plenty of Caribbean sites, to include the heart of locks, the moving bridge, colorful buildings and markets.

It’s fairly easy to get to Curacao from Texas with a nonstop flight to Miami and then a connecting flight over to Curacao. A stay at Sandals Royal Curacao includes a shuttle bus to get you back-and-forth to the  airport, which is about a 30 to 45 minute drive depending on traffic.

Greeted by the classic Carribean style and architecture, this resort treats its guests like royalty. Photo courtesy Sandals.

Note that one reason folks love Curacao is that it is below the hurricane belt, which makes it a great Caribbean destination, free from those pesky hurricanes! October through December is rainy season, so plan accordingly.

Fun fact: Locals speak five languages, so it’s very cultural. And did I mention safe?

Quench Your Curiosity about Sandals Royal Curacao

With eleven restaurants and three food trucks, this all-inclusive is alright, alright, alright.

Book a butler suite to get service at your fingertips with the use of a magic cell phone to meet your every need, including dinner reservations or reserving a beach or pool cabana. Level up for this luxury service. Certain suites (the size of a regular hotel room) have a patio with lounge chairs and swim up pool, super convenient because the beach is just on the other side.

With plenty of restaurants to choose from, you can’t go wrong by making reservations ahead of time to be sure you get a seat at the table. Photo courtesy Sandals.

Plan out your dinner reservations when you get there: Pieta’s for Italian, Butch’s steakhouse, tapas, sushi, Aola’s for Mediterranean. With plenty of restaurants to choose from, by making your dinner reservations early on, you can make sure to get a spot and try out various cuisines during your stay.

Make time to just chill at the beach and enjoy service with snacks and cold drinks (your butler can hook you up with a reserved palapa, waiting for you with a cooler filled with local beer and water). The swimming area is protected by a bulkhead, so the water is extremely calm and clear enough to see the fish swimming underneath.

Check out Sandals Royal Curacao’s infinity pool within an infinity pool (creates great photos for the ‘gram!). Your butler can also reserve a poolside cabana overlooking the ocean, a prime location for a day of reading. The Sandals Royal Curacao entertainment team provides games and group play throughout the day. Beer pong, anyone?

Sandals Royal Curacao’s evening entertainment includes performances, such as circus and Broadway themed shows, but silent disco was our favorite, by far! Put those neon headphones on and dance the night away on beach sand!

Other fun activities on property include a relaxing massage at the spa, use of paddle boards and kayaks, shuffleboard, drinks (and occasionally live music) at the lobby bar, reading by the pool or beach or napping in a quiet hammock.

All inclusive equals no fuss, no looking at prices, and even includes a stocked bar in your room.

Pro tip: Kanal sweet shop and wine bar is where you can get three different types of Dutch cheeses and various wines by the glass, also bakery desserts, all types of coffees and even crêpes.

Explore and adventure

Get a mini cooper to go into Willemstad for some great scenery, walking around and meeting the locals. When considering multiple Sandals properties, I was told that most people tend to spend their time only at the resorts… all except for Sandals Royal Curacao, which was the location where guests really wanted to get out and see the town.
