Cirque du Soleil will bring their new show “Songblazers” to Austin’s Bass Concert Hall Aug. 14-18 combining elements of honky tonk and country music culture with the glamor of acrobatic stunts.
Cirque du Soleil is proud to announce their brand new country-themed show titled “Songblazers”, which honors traditional and contemporary country music artists. The show includes performances coinciding with the country infused theme and showcases the unique and innovative artistry by the Cirque du Soleil cast. Audiences are invited to witness breathtaking acrobatics, awe-inspiring aerial acts, and displays of extraordinary strength.
Country Music Takes Center Stage
The show follows a young songwriter, Dusty, who sets off on a quest to reignite his passion and find his voice following a poor performance at the local carnival’s talent show. His journey takes him through the heartland of the American West. He meets a variety of characters at campfire sing-a-longs, barn dances and bar fights who offer him lessons in life, love and the pursuit of dreams.
Those in attendance will be treated to an amazing performance combined with a thrilling musical nod to country music featuring songs such as “Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” by Shania Twain, “Red Solo Cup” by Toby Keith, and an original song penned by Sam Williams (grandson to Hank Williams) in collaboration with songwriters PJ Harding and Ned Houston. The song titled “Carnival Heart” is an emotional piece which uncovers themes such as hope and friendship.
Created by Amy Tinkham, who directed and wrote the production, audiences can expect an exhilarating show featuring captivating and thrilling acrobatic stunts along with beautiful costumes, and unique characters against the backdrop of country music. For lovers of the country music genre and athletic artistry, the show is a perfect combo making for an entertaining night.
“Songblazers” will take over Austin with planned performances from Aug. 14-18. You can catch a performance in San Antonio Aug. 21-25 and in Dallas Sept. 25-Oct. 20. The show is currently in Sugar Land through Aug. 11. For more information and to purchase tickets visit their website online.
