For over 20 years, Texas country singer Aaron Watson has been putting out records that leave fans wanting more. His new album, “Horse Named Texas,” is no different. In fact, it might be his favorite yet.
When asked about the new album and what all went into making it, Aaron says he has been working on it for a while. Between lots of ups and downs–including a vocal surgery–he is ready to put out more music than ever in the next five years. That being said, he is already almost done with the next album! “I wrote all the songs on this album, and it will probably have a deluxe album to go with it in the future. The title track is all about my career,” Aaron said.
Although he is no stranger to the Texas country scene, he said that he still has the same excitement as an artist just getting started. “It is no longer about having the biggest moment, but about the challenge of putting out the best country record I have ever put out,” says Aaron. This time around, he is focused on the songwriting more than anything and that is evident in this album.

Are there any songs you are excited for us to hear?
So many. I am super excited about playing the title track, and the song I released as a single has a lot of energy as well. There are lots of songs I have already been playing.
Tell us about your partnership with Capital Farm Credit.
They are my official tour sponsor. They have been doing business forever, and I love what they stand for. At the end of the day, the people they support are the people I make music for. It just made sense.
With over 100 tour stops, will your son be joining you on any of them?
Jake will be there for some shows. He is going to spend more time on the road with us and get more experience. We are currently helping him write an album. I am just on cloud nine getting to do this with him.
How has it been watching him grow his stage presence? Do you see yourself in him?
I watched an interview that he did on a podcast and saw our similar mannerisms in the way we talk and have certain expressions. I have always been there to help him, but I enjoy letting him figure it out.
TikTok and social media have made it easier for upcoming artists to get their music out. How have you embraced that over the years?
I never really embraced social media until this last year. I want to take it by storm, and I really enjoy having fun with it. It is interesting to see an artist that has a gift take off on social media, and I enjoy talking to them about it when I have the opportunity. I am a fan of Braxton (Keith) and Gavin Adcock. They remind me of myself at times.
What show in Texas are you most looking forward to?
Gruene Hall. New Braunfels is always such a good town to be in and has so much to offer.
Favorite song to play live?
Freight Train.
What can fans expect to see from Aaron Watson in the upcoming months?
We have at least three new albums planned with their names already decided. I have a fun project that is a secret right now, but it is going to raise some money. I just want to spend time with my family and enjoy the life I have now that my kids are getting older.

Fans can catch Aaron at any of his many shows this year. You can buy tickets through his website here. Be sure to listen to “Horse Named Texas” on any streaming service!
