The first weekend of the 2024 Austin City Limits Festival was a hot one, but the music on the stage was even hotter.
Tens of thousands of music lovers flocked to Austin’s ZIlker park to hear over 100 bands perform on nine stages. All genres of music represented and there was something for even the most finicky of music fans.
Just like every year, well not quite every year, the first notes to be heard were from Austin’s western swing band Asleep at the Wheel. ACL Fest has always showcased local Austin talent and this year 17 artists with ties to the capitol city will take to the stage. Some of those Austin Bands which we saw on weekend one include Chaparelle, promqueen, Midnight Navy and West 22nd which is composed entirely of students from the University of Texas, which is a first.
The festival also includes some of the music industry’s up-and-coming artists like Dasha, The Marias, and Daiistar as well as big name acts like Chris Stapleton, Dua Lipa, and San Diego punk rock band Blink 182.
With all of these amazing bands taking the stage, there was one performer who drew what many are claiming to be the largest crowd in ACL Fest history. Yes, we are talking about Chappell Roan. Fans flocked to the American Express stage to get the best spot to see the “Pink Pony Club” singer.
If you feel like you missed out, not to worry! Here are some of the highlights from the first weekend of ACL Festival! Be sure to check Texas Lifestyle Magazine’s social channels for interviews from weekend one, and also some of the other activities that took place.
