Since 1984, Cirque du Soleil has attracted more than 9 million lovers of the arts, and rightly so. The Canadian-originated artform has mastered the perfect balance of theater, dramatics, elaborate costumes, decadence, and awe. Cirque du Soleil is famed for a night of luxury and audacious immersive experiences. As one of the top producing, world renowned shows, a once and a lifetime opportunity awaits. Here at Texas Lifestyle Magazine, we are esteemed lovers of fine arts and we encourage you to experience Cirque du Soleil’s Corteo production.

Corteo, which means “cortege” in Italian, is a cheerful procession. Cirque illustrates a festive parade as imagined by a clown. Interestingly, the troupe of talent does not limit themselves to the typical confines of a stage – they weave their way in and out of the audience and even send a character flying through the air held by nothing but balloons.

Cirque du Soleil’s interpretation of this funeral procession begins with Mauro the clown picturing his own funeral. Rather than taking a somber approach, the clown celebrates the end of his life in a carnival atmosphere. Perhaps it was all a dream? Perhaps it was reality? The answer is up to you.

The traveling company of the world’s best acrobats, performers, singers, and talents performed at the Moody Center in Austin this past weekend, February 3-5, 2023. Guests had the chance to not only experience art, but engage with it as well. The show is one to remember – with over 260 costumes, a custom constructed stage and acrobatic structure rare to typical live performances, and even Parisian inspired detailing in the Italian-style curtains. The scenic elements are through the roof, the symbolism remarkable, and the acting is the best of the best. Cirque du Soleil spares no detail. As the Cirque company puts it, “get carried away with life” as you enjoy Corteo!
