DFW’s award-winning professional theatre company brings Into the Woods to life.

Classic fairy tales get a fresh and thought-provoking twist as North Texas Performing Arts (NTPA) Repertory Theatre launches its 2025 season with the musical Into the Woods. Running for the second weekend March 20-23 at the Willow Bend Center of the Arts, this production brings together an all-star cast of the Dallas-Fort Worth stage for a magical journey into the world of classic storybook characters.

Fresh off winning four Broadway World Dallas awards in 2024, NTPA Repertory Theatre promises a dazzling performance of this Tony Award-winning musical. Under the direction of Nick Mann, the production invites audiences on an adventure through a darkly enchanting world where wishes come true — but at a price.

The production team is led by Director Nick Mann who is excited to bring Stephen Sondheim to the stage. “We all grew up with fairytales, and we continue to search for that ‘happily ever after’ ending in our own lives, ” said Mann.

The Cast and Creative Team

Featuring a stellar cast, Into the Woods showcases Avanti Dey as the Witch, Beau Mills as the Baker, and Bella Correa as the Baker’s Wife. Lily Hogge steps into the role of Cinderella, while Jake Rusher is Cinderella’s Prince and the Wolf. This talented ensemble is set to deliver a captivating performance, bringing Sondheim’s melodies and James Lapine’s storytelling to life.

Before the performance begins everyone gets a playbill with all the actors names and a synopsis of the play. There is also a wine donation booth for people ages 21+ to get a drink. Concessions are available before the show and during the intermission. During the performance you can expect to see very elaborate costumes, set pieces, and props that bring the musical to life.

Guiding the production behind the scenes is a skilled creative team, with Grace Raber ensuring smooth operations as Stage Manager, Rachel Moes leading the musical direction, and Kiba Walker crafting dynamic and expressive choreography. Together, their expertise provides an immersive theatrical experience that honors the brilliance of Sondheim’s masterpiece.

A Classic Musical with a Contemporary Relevance

Into the Woods intertwines the tales of Cinderella, Jack (of beanstalk fame), Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel, among others. The show follows a Baker and his wife, whose longing for a child leads them into the woods on a quest to break a Witch’s curse. While their wishes — and those of their fellow storybook characters — are initially granted, they soon discover that every wish has consequences. The musical’s themes of love, loss and responsibility resonate deeply, making it a timeless piece that continues to captivate audiences of all ages.

With a three-hour runtime, the show is recommended for ages 10 and up. To ensure accessibility, NTPA Repertory Theatre is offering a special captioned performance on March 15 at 2:30 p.m. and an ASL-interpreted performance on March 22 at 2:30 p.m., with designated seating available.
