As the FIFA World Cup enters the quarterfinal stage, fans everywhere are rallying behind their favorite teams, making predictions, and gathering to watch every dramatic goal, save, and stoppage-time heroics.
For North American soccer fans, the 2026 FIFA World Cup has carried an extra layer of excitement as the tournament unfolds across the United States, Canada, and Mexico for the first time in more than three decades. Texas has found itself squarely in the spotlight, with Houston and the Dallas-Fort Worth region serving as host cities and welcoming fans from around the globe to experience the state’s signature blend of hospitality, food, culture, and larger-than-life celebrations.
While the tournament will soon crown a champion, the excitement surrounding the host cities doesn’t have to end with the final whistle. One of the best-kept travel secrets is visiting World Cup destinations after the crowds have gone home. The stadium buzz may fade, but the restaurants, hotels, sports bars, and local attractions that embraced the tournament remain—often with shorter lines, easier reservations, and a more relaxed atmosphere. Whether you’re cheering for your team from Texas or planning a future getaway, Houston, Fort Worth, and Dallas offer plenty of reasons to keep the FIFA spirit alive long after the trophy is lifted.
