After 20 years together, how have y’all seen the country music scene change and do you think that y’all changed along with it?

The Country music scene continues to grow with new sounds, new artists, and expanding fan bases. As a band we have grown our sound from years on the road, big moments in our lives with family and just being a band together for so long we have worked on what we want to sound like and what we want to say.

Homecoming feels like a special album, from the way it sounds to the recording process, can you tell us a little more about that?

We worked with Radney Foster again to produce this album and we did everything we could to bring it back to the beginning of when we became a band. The feeling of those 24-year- olds who had no idea what we were doing, but somehow ended up making a record that changed everything for us with Radney. We took it back to the roots on Homecoming and made a record we are all very proud of.

We recently did an interview with Parker McCollum, who you have toured and written with. He spoke about how you guided him in his early years, do you have anyone who did that for you?

Yes, I managed Parker McCollum in the very early stages of his career and it’s so awesome to see what he’s doing now. For us, one of those people was our producer Radney Foster, who was a huge influence on the Randy Rogers Band sound.

Fast Car was deemed the ultimate love song by CMT, how did this song come about and who was your inspiration for it?

“Fast Car” was written by Randy Montana, Wendell Mobley and Lee Miller, and I’ve always enjoyed taking an outside cut and making it my own. When I heard this song, I knew it would be a great fit, and I really connect to it because it reminds me of my wife in so many ways.

You have been performing for several years, do you have a favorite Texas venue?

Performing in my home state of Texas is always special so picking a favorite venue is hard. We recorded the music video for “Fast Car” at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, which is always an amazing venue to perform in.

What is your favorite song to play live, and what is your favorite new song to perform?

It’s hard to pick a favorite. Every time I see fans dancing together in the aisles, it is always my favorite show moment. We have been closing our shows with “Fast Car” and to end with a new song that the audience is loudly singing back to you is a pretty cool feeling.

How do y’all balance home and show life?

I have the most amazing and supportive wife who helps me keep everything in the balance. I love being a dad and spending my off time with my family. I’ve also started working out again which helps keep me centered.

Tell us a little bit about your whiskey

New Braunfels’ Bahnbrecker is a Hefeweizen-Style Whiskey that I co-founded with a bunch of buddies and Steve Luttmann. We wanted to create something that the people who came before us in this great community of New Braunfels would be proud of. I think you’re going to find that this craft whiskey distinguishes itself from others.

The Randy Rogers Band is headlining the Lone Star Jam happening Memorial Weekend in Round Rock, Texas. To see more tour dates, and get a copy of the album visit their website.
