On a warm spring night, the Moody Amphitheater lit up with the dreamy sounds of Khruangbin, the Texas trio that somehow blends Thai funk, soul, and psychedelic rock into pure magic. Even with a rain delay, fans stuck it out, ready to get lost in those hypnotic grooves.
Before the show kicked off, the Moody Amphitheater had to be evacuated because of nearby lightning. Once the skies cleared, fans were welcomed back in with the smooth, soothing sounds of Helado Negro. His calming vibe was the perfect way to reset the night and get everyone back into the groove.

One of the coolest things about Khruangbin live is how their music feels like a trip around the world. No matter where you’re standing, it’s like you’re being transported somewhere far away. Songs like “Maria También” kicked off big singalongs and had the whole crowd swaying without a care.

The chemistry between Mark, Laura, and DJ was obvious all night. Mark’s effortless guitar riffs had him and Laura trading smiles, while DJ kept everything steady with his laid-back but locked-in drumming. It didn’t feel like a huge amphitheater show — it felt like we all got invited to a private jam session.

What makes Khruangbin so special is the way they pull from so many sounds, funk, soul, disco, psych, without ever losing their own vibe. Every song melted into the next, turning the whole set into this mellow, almost meditative ride where time stopped mattering.

Even though the setlist was a little shorter because of the weather, they still packed it with favorites like “Time (You and I)” and, again, “Maria También,” which hit just as hard the second time around. By the time they came back out for their encore with “People Everywhere (Still Alive),” the place was buzzing — it was the perfect way to wrap up the night.
In a world that feels overwhelming half the time, Khruangbin’s music is a reminder to slow down and reconnect, with each other, and with the bigger, colorful world out there. If you ever get the chance to see them live, go. It’s the kind of show you’ll think about long after the lights come up.
If you missed Khruangbin’s nights at the Moody, here’s a look back at what you missed.
