Small Texas towns have produced some of the best musicians, and the Logan Ryan Band is no exception. Hailing from a small town outside of Austin, Logan Ryan Skloss is the lead singer of the band. We recently sat down with him and talked about the band’s success and what is still to come.
Imagine one day you are working as a welder and Parker McCollum posts a TikTok dancing to your song! For Logan Ryan Skloss of the Logan Ryan Band, that is exactly what happened. His song “Cigarettes and Alcohol” was posted by Parker McCollum and the rest is history. After years of performing, trying to find dedicated band members, pushing out songs, trying to market the best he could – and right when he was about ready to give up — this TikTok post gave him just the boost and incentive he needed to keep going! From then on, there have been a lot of eyes on the Logan Ryan Band.

Talk to us about growing up. Where are you from and have you always been involved with music?
I was born in Austin but grew up in Gonzales. I went to school in the next town over and worked on ranches a lot. There wasn’t much to do but go back roading and drink a lot of beer. My dad was a karaoke DJ, so I was around music my entire life. My mom would take me & my sister and we would sing some songs and hang out. Kinda grew up in Honky Tonks, with older country music. I got my first guitar at nine years old and self-taught how to play. The first song I learned to play was “Smoke on the Water.” I started writing songs at age 11.
Did things change after Parker posted your song, or did you continue working and releasing music? What was that process like?
I continued working but things changed. It put a lot more eyes on me and people who might not have been interested in me before were interested in me now. I quit welding in June 2025 and do music full time now. I miss it sometimes but enjoy being able to focus on music full time now.
Talk to us about the songwriting process and how your ideas come about. Is it more of personal life experience, or do you ever take things from what you see others do?
It is definitely more of a personal experience. I would say about 95% of songs are something I have been through and true stories. I can’t sit down and just write a song. Something has to happen for me to be inspired.
Your new album “Kamikaze” is out now. What was creating that album like for you?
It is our debut album, but a lot of songs on it are older songs I have had in the catalog for a while. It took a year and a half to record it. We used two studios and two producers. I wanted my full band on it rather than a studio band and so that was great to be able to have.

What is it like hearing people scream lyrics that you wrote while on stage?
It is more than you could ever ask for. I have been playing music damn near all my life, and these last few years I have seen it really take off.
Do you have a favorite venue in Texas to perform at?
Gruene Hall. We just played at Banita Creek down in Nacogdoches and they were really fun.
Do you have a dream venue in Texas to perform at?

Is there anyone in the scene right now that you would like to collab with? Writing or singing?
Tyler Halverson, Shelby Stone
What is your favorite song to perform live?
