RaeLynn is a talented country music singer who has captured the hearts of many fans. Born and raised in Baytown, Texas, RaeLynn began honing her skills as a singer and songwriter at a young age. She first gained national attention when she appeared on the second season of the hit television show, The Voice, in 2012. Since then, RaeLynn has gone on to release several popular singles, including “God Made Girls” and “Love Triangle.” Her music is known for its upbeat and catchy melodies, as well as its relatable lyrics that touch on themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery.
In addition to her music career, RaeLynn is also an advocate for mental health awareness. She has been open about her own struggles with anxiety, and has used her platform to encourage others to seek help when they need it. RaeLynn’s music is beloved by fans around the world, and she continues to tour and perform for sold-out crowds. With her undeniable talent and infectious energy, it’s clear that RaeLynn is a rising star in the world of country music. We caught up with RaeLynn to ask about her unique journey to popularity and upcoming performance on July 1 at The Pavilion at Boyd Farm in Lavon, Texas, with past Voice winners Bryce Leatherwood and trio singing sensation Girl Named Tom.
Early Beginning
RaeLynn’s journey in Country music began when she was young. “My Country music interest began when I was a child because that is what all my family listened to, and I grew up always going to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. My childhood was great. My parents divorced when I was very young but I was always loved and taken care of. I grew up singing in church and was always very theatrical so I knew from a very young age that I wanted to do country music.
“I always wanted to be like Dolly Parton. She inspired me to want to have a threefold career. She sings, she acts, she can do it all. And I wanted to be like that. If I wasn’t a singer/songwriter, I would have owned my own business. Maybe a business that included clothing, coffee or a bakery. Hell, maybe even all three at once.”
Calling Texas Home
Even though RaeLynn lives in Nashville, Tennessee, now, she will always call Texas home. “I lived in Texas up until I was 18. But Texas will always be home for me. I love the atmosphere of Texas: country music, rodeos, kind people, the love of my friends and family. Everything is bigger and better in Texas. Like I said, Texas will always be home to me regardless of how far away I am.”
Spare Time
RaeLynn’s spare time is mostly filled with her family and friends. “Honestly, I love being a mom but between being an artist and a mom, I love spending my spare time with my friends and family. I love playing board games and just hanging out in comfy clothes.”
A Little Known Fact
RaeLynn lives with a disease few know about. It’s a disease that affects about 37 million Americans, or 11% of the population. But this has not stopped her pursuing her career. It’s just something she lives with. “Some people don’t know I have diabetes, but it is something I live with every day.”
Life After The Voice
RaeLynn was introduced to the world when she competed on the 2012 season two of The Voice. Since then, life has never been the same. “It’s been a whirlwind. I didn’t win The Voice, but my time was significant enough to build a foundation in the music industry. I feel very fortunate to have a #1 album, travel the world with some of the biggest country stars and continue to write and release music.”
Recent Release
RaeLynn’s recent release, Somebody Else, was a collaboration between herself and her husband’s best friend, singer/songwriter Judah. “Somebody Else is a song that really portrays some of our core values in a fun and new way. We wanted to encourage people to take the focus off of ourselves and be a light to a dark world around us.”
Upcoming Concert
RaeLynn will appear in a Winning Voices concert, along with this year’s The Voice winner Bryce Leatherwood and last year’s winners Girl Named Tom, on July 1 at Boyd Farm in Lavon, Texas. “I’m really excited to be performing in Texas again. It always feels like a homecoming each time I’m in front of a Texas crowd. Getting to share the stage with the trio Girl Named Tom and Bryce Leatherwood is going to be so much fun. It will be The Voice family reunion!”
Advice to Others
The music industry can be hard to navigate. RaeLynn says this to those interested in pursuing music as a career: “Find what makes you unique and stick with it. The music industry can be a hard one to navigate but the fans are always going to gravitate to somebody who is authentic. And after all these years I’m most proud about staying true to who I am. As for me, I am going to be hitting the road soon, and I am working on my next album which I am so excited about because it truly will be a labor of love.”
