ZZ Top, Death Cab for Cutie, Chaka Khan and more are headed to United Heritage Hall as Austin’s newest concert venue prepares to open in 2027.
If there’s one thing Austin knows how to do, it’s put on a concert. Between the smaller clubs along Red River, the outdoor amphitheaters and the larger venues bringing national tours through town, there’s no shortage of places to hear live music. And beginning next year, concertgoers will have another option.
AEG Presents announced the first round of performances for United Heritage Hall, a new 4,000-capacity venue scheduled to open in Austin’s Riverside neighborhood in early 2027. The initial lineup includes everything from Texas legends ZZ Top to alternative rock favorites Death Cab for Cutie, electronic artist deadmau5 and comedian Taylor Tomlinson.
It’s a pretty ambitious opening schedule for a venue that hasn’t welcomed its first audience yet.
United Heritage Hall’s 2027 Concert Lineup
Alternative rock veterans Hum will help kick things off on March 7, followed by comedian Taylor Tomlinson on March 12 and electronic music producer deadmau5 on March 13.
For Texas music fans, one of the bigger announcements is ZZ Top on March 18. Few bands are as closely associated with Texas rock music as Billy Gibbons and company, and having them on the opening calendar seems appropriate for a new Austin venue. GRAMMY-winning Tejano group La Mafia follows on March 19.
Alternative rock fans will recognize another familiar name when Death Cab for Cutie performs March 23. The Plot in You closes out the month’s announced performances on March 27.
April continues with Colombian singer-songwriter Fonseca on April 1, legendary R&B performer Chaka Khan on April 23 and electronic artist Sullivan King on April 24.
Looking further ahead, October brings Roger Waters Presents LEGACY on October 3. The Pink Floyd tribute features Harry Waters, son of Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters. British comedian Jimmy Carr is scheduled for October 6.
It’s an interesting mix of artists for the venue’s first year, particularly when you consider how different the audiences for ZZ Top, deadmau5 and Chaka Khan might be. Austin has never been a one-genre music town, and the opening calendar reflects that.
A New Concert Experience for Austin

One of the more interesting things about United Heritage Hall is its size. At 4,000 people, it falls between the city’s intimate music clubs and larger arena settings. Anyone who regularly attends concerts knows how much the venue itself can affect the experience. There are shows where being close to the stage makes all the difference, and others where you spend half the night watching the performance on a giant screen.
United Heritage Hall is being designed with that in mind. The 65,000-square-foot building will include upgraded sound and lighting systems, improved sightlines, VIP seating, luxury suites and hospitality areas. There will also be dedicated spaces for artists and touring crews.
Of course, we’ll have to wait until the doors open to see how all of that translates into the actual concert experience. Good acoustics, comfortable sightlines and a relatively painless trip to the parking lot can matter just as much as the name on the marquee.
Bringing Live Music to Austin’s Riverside Neighborhood
United Heritage Hall will be part of River Park, a 109-acre mixed-use development in Austin’s Riverside neighborhood, not far from downtown and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The project is being developed by AEG Presents alongside Westfield, Partners Group and Presidium, with naming rights secured through a partnership with United Heritage Credit Union.
The larger River Park development is planned as a walkable district combining entertainment, businesses and other amenities. For an area of Austin that continues to see considerable growth, a concert venue of this size could bring even more attention to the neighborhood.
It also gives touring artists another place to perform in a city where the competition for concert dates and venues is already pretty strong.
The Next Chapter in Austin’s Live Music Scene
Austin has seen plenty of changes to its live music scene over the years. Some longtime venues have disappeared, others have managed to hang on, and new spaces have opened to accommodate the growing number of artists coming through town. United Heritage Hall will soon join that mix.
Whether it becomes a favorite among concertgoers remains to be seen, but its opening lineup certainly gives people a reason to check it out. And for those of us who already spend a good portion of the year going from one concert to another, it looks like we’ll have another venue to add to the rotation.
