Slipknot’s “Here Comes the Pain” concert tour delivers exactly what you’d expect from the masked titans of metal: chaos, intensity, and an unrelenting barrage of sound and energy. Celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of their self-titled debut album, “Slipknot,” the band treated the fans in attendance to an unrelenting barrage of sound and energy!
Starting off the evening was Vended, a band which formed in 2018, and features the sons of Slipknot band members Corey Taylor and Shawn “Clown” Crahan. On Sept. 20, they will release their new album, “Vended.” Up next was Knocked Loose, whose set included songs from their newly released album, “You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To,” After their tour with Slipknot comes to an end Knocked Loose will set out on their own headlining tour.
When the lights went down, the crowd erupted with anticipation as Gary Wright’s “Dream Weaver” was played over the PA speaker, followed by “Come Play With Us” from “Shining.” Slipknot took to the stage dressed in their familiar jumpsuits and iconic masks. After the first couple of songs, including their hit “Wait and Bleed,” frontman Corey Taylor thanked the fans for the support and said, “I’m here to tell you right now, you will not hear a song that was not written after 1999 tonight!” Also missing from the show were the pyrotechnics and the rising drum kits. It was a stripped down rock show which featured all of the songs from the album that put Slipknot on the nu-metal map, and the fans loved every minute of it.
