Built in 1894, and originally home to the Pearl Brewery’s fleet of draft horses, Stable Hall has been reinvented as a music venue set to open in January 2024. Located in the heart of the Pearl neighborhood, and just walking distance from San Antonio’s famed River Walk, the new concert venue will not only feature national bands but also spotlight local acts.
The redesigned Stable Hall maintains much of the original look outside, but inside is where the transformation happened. Where once stood stables for horses, now there is a reclaimed Texas dance hall pine wood floor, mezzanine seats, six full-service bars, and hayloft balconies. In total, the hall will have a capacity of 1000 seats and feature a large jewel stage box with Austrian stage drapes.
Brandt Wood, co-founder of Pilgrimage Festival which is held annually in Franklin, TN, brought the idea to the Pearl’s staff in 2020. “To me, the Stable Hall project is meaningful for two reasons. First, the opportunity to partner with Pearl in breathing musical life into this 130-year-old legendary building — in a hospitality ecosystem that has transformed San Antonio — is a once-in-a-lifetime moment for a music producer. Second, our team feels an incredible responsibility to serve as humble stewards of this monumental venue, bringing a culturally relevant destination to life that enriches the experience of the artist, patron and staff at the highest level.”
Stable Hall is set to officially open with a free show on Jan. 13 featuring Rob Baird with Angel White. In the following months, bands like Portugal. the Man, The Black Pumas, who will play two nights, and the Band of Heathens will take the stage. If you want to find out who will be playing at Stable Hall, visit the concert calendar online, and also get more information about events they will be hosting.
With this new addition to the booming Pearl District, Stable Hall will not only honor the legacy of San Antonio’s rich music history, but will also support local artists with a venue they can call home.
