Local Texas Bands Releasing New Music, Bands From Out of Town Coming to Your City on Tour – We Have It All for You in This Month’s Texas Tunes.
#1 Thank God For People
Thank God For People is a monthly, intimate artist “showcase” that celebrates original, heartful music and other arts. You get to know the artists in a personal and meaningful environment.
“We curate a diverse range of individuals from our community for a night filled with music, expression and authentic connections. We focus on what it means to be HUMAN and embrace all pieces of it.
We start with sharing cacao to ground into the space and open the heart. We believe in creating a space that encourages open dialogue, where we can engage in heartfelt conversations about our collective human experiences. Additionally, we have an open mic throughout the night, allowing anyone within the community to share a song, joke, dance, or any other form of expression they’d like to share or have witnessed. We are committed to creating a space where your thoughts, ideas, expression and talents can be seen, felt and heard on a core level.”

#2 Wade Bowen
The Austin Gamblers in partnership with the Texas Music Scene announced that Texas-based country music artist, Wade Bowen, will perform for fans at PBR Gambler Days presented by Tecovas at Moody Center. Fans can catch his live performance on Saturday, Aug. 24 as part of the Ford Fan Fest on the Texas Music Scene Stage right outside of the Moody Center.
“Wade Bowen’s approach to his music is rooted in tradition, but also stands on the creative cutting edge, just like the PBR Teams series and the Austin Gamblers” said Austin Gamblers CEO, J.J. Gottsch. “Alongside the Texas Music Scene, we are aiming to breathe new life into old traditions, and I can’t wait to have Gambler Nation to see him perform live.”
Tickets for the event are on sale now, and start at $26 (taxes and fees not included) and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com, PBR.com and MoodyCenterATX.com, or by calling PBR customer service at 1-800-732-1727.
Three-day ticket packages are available, offering fans a 15% discount on select price levels.
#3 There I Ruined It
Among the most followed comedic music channels on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, “There I Ruined It” claims to “lovingly destroy your favorite songs.” The channel’s unique and often viral remixes have even earned shares from the very “victims” targeted: from Ed Sheeran to Snoop Dogg. Followers include musicians like Justin Timberlake, Weird Al Yankovic, Questlove and Michael Bublé.
Now, the channel’s creator – Dallas native Dustin Ballard – has gone back to his roots: live music.
“I loved the idea of combining my two passions – live music and offbeat creativity. The challenge laid in finding musicians who could jump from grunge rock and classic country to Disney songs and Russian marches. We’ve put together a stellar band, and the final result goes well beyond a cheap laugh.”

#4 Rita Bliss
Rita Bliss is a folk musician from Rochester, New York, and is now based in Austin, Texas. Though a Rust Belt native, Rita’s melodies are rooted in familiar old-time banjo sounds that evoke travels along the backroads of the South. Influenced by John Prine, Joni Mitchell and Nanci Griffith, Rita’s songwriting weaves together timeless love stories with long drives, porch gatherings, and letters between loved ones. The love stories are unabashedly queer, the porch gatherings are sometimes rowdy, and the conversations often touch on true-to-life mental health challenges.
Rita’s debut album, Peaches and Apple Pies, produced by Grammy-nominated musician Dom Fisher, will feature “Drive You to Kentucky”, “The Best Bar in Texas”, and “Two Dollar Bill” was released on July 19, 2024.
#5 SaulPaul
SaulPaul, the acclaimed GRAMMY-nominated artist celebrated for his unique blend of hip-hop, folk, pop, Afrobeat, R&B, and reggae, announces the release of his highly anticipated children’s album, “Speak Hope Sing Joy: Change Maker Music for Kids” on Aug. 30. Crafted as a love letter to young people facing significant challenges, this album features a dozen upbeat and energetic songs designed to inspire hope and joy. Rooted in themes of resilience, self-awareness, and positivity, the album offers a comprehensive and enriching musical experience for children. Influenced by his extensive 16-week tour to 100 schools across 32 states, during which he empowered 125,000 students through the #BeTheChange Challenge, SaulPaul debuted his new single “Speak Hope Sing Joy” on Friday, July 26, while at the Disruptivators Summit hosted by Usher’s New Look Foundation in Atlanta, GA. The single will officially be released on Friday, Aug. 2.
The celebration of SaulPaul’s new album kicked off with a tour around Austin, starting with a performance by SaulPaul at Connally High School on Saturday, July 27. On Sunday, July 28, he took the stage at Antone’s Bravefest, continuing to spread his message of hope and joy. On Tuesday, July 30, parts 1 and 2 of his 3-part self-produced documentary “Musician with a Message” were showcased at the Marriott Marquis. SaulPaul’s busy schedule continues with a performance for Del Valle ISD’s staff at their annual convocation on Friday, Aug. 2 and another at the University of Texas at Austin on Aug. 8.
