Celebrate No-Shave November With a Drink

Each year, Texas-based The Valencia Hotel Group and Austin’s own Lone Star Court supports the American Cancer Society by participating in No-Shave November, a non-profit organization devoted to growing cancer awareness and raising funds to support cancer prevention, research, and education.

In addition to the halt on grooming, Lone Star Court and its on-site restaurant, The Water Trough, are getting behind the movement by offering a selection of specialty cocktails to support the cause. Ten percent of sales from select food and beverages (including the cocktails) will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Stop by The Water Trough to drink for the cause. Here are the recipes for the featured beverages, so you can make them yourself at home:

Mustache Mulemustache-mule


  • 1.5 oz. Blue Ice Vodka
  • Splash of cranberry juice
  • Splash of fresh lime juice
  • Fever-Tree ginger beer to fill


  • Add vodka, lime juice and cranberry juice to shaker
  • Shake and pour over ice in a copper mug and top with ginger beer
  • Enjoy!

  • .75 oz. Seagram’s Vodka
  • .75 oz. Seagram’s Gin
  • .75 oz. Bacardi Rum
  • .75 oz. Dekuyper Triple Sec
  • 1.25 oz. lemon juice
  • 1.25 oz. lime juice
  • Coca Cola to fill


  • Fill a pint glass with ice
  • Add all ingredients including coke
  • Pour mixture into shaker tin and back into pint glass (including ice)
  • Garnish with lemon wheel and straw
  • Enjoy!

  • 1.5 oz. Bulleit Bourbon
  • .5 oz. Cointreau
  • 3 oz. house made margarita mix
  • Salt for rim

Ingredients for Margarita Mix: (Yields one gallon)

  • 2 quarts fresh squeezed lime
  • 1 quart agave nectar
  • 1 quart hot water
  • 1 cup orange juice

Directions for Margarita Mix:

  • Stir agave nectar and water together to create agave syrup
  • Add lime juice and orange juice, mix


  • Add bourbon, Cointreau, and house made margarita mix into a shaker
  • Shake and pour into margarita glass with salted rim
  • Enjoy!
