SusieCakes, West Coast’s popular all-American, home-style bakery, will have a grand opening party in their new Austin location on October 22nd, from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m., loaded with family fun. The guests will enjoy meeting Susie, sampling treats, PLUS a balloon artist, face painter, DJ and coloring contest for the kiddos. Guests can also enter the raffle for a chance to win a year of cakes; and receive a grab bag of prizes with purchase.

SusieCakes became popular with celebrities on the West Coast like Mario Lopez, the Kardashians, Reese Witherspoon and Jessica Simpson for specializing in an array of sentimental, classic desserts made from scratch using fresh, simple ingredients by in-house bakers. SusieCakes specialties include frosted layer cakes in familiar flavors such as Southern Red Velvet, Old-Fashioned Chocolate, Carrot, Marble and Tropical Coconut. Rotating seasonal offerings feature holiday-inspired treats and a selection of traditional cookies and bars including snickerdoodles, chocolate chip cookies, fudgy brownies, seven-layer bars and Susie’s famous whoopie pies.

The bakery is known for its towering high cakes. SusieCakes founder, Susan Sarich, never uses any mixes, artificial preservatives, high-fructose corn syrups or trans-fats in the bakery’s recipes. Photo Courtesy SusieCakes.

Sarich, who recently made Texas her new home says, “While anticipating openings in the Texas market, we fell in love with the neighborhoods, the burgeoning culinary scenes and the warm hospitality of the people. Since opening shops in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and now Austin, we’ve decided to move our headquarters to Texas!”

SusieCakes’ Founder, Susan Sarich, grew up in Chicago where she was called Susie by her two beloved grandmothers, Mildred and Madeline. Every day Susie would come home from school to enjoy her grandmothers’ company over a glass of milk and a fresh baked treat. This daily baking ritual and special time together in the kitchen left a lasting impression. When Susie grew up to become Susan and moved to the West Coast, she brought along her grandmothers’ carefully recorded recipes on handwritten 3X5 cards. The pure and simple connection those recipes fostered helped Susan form SusieCakes bakeries to share her experience with others. Through SusieCakes, Susan honors Mildred and Madeline: both in her dedication to their baking traditions, and her commitment to providing women with progressive careers in the food & hospitality industry.
