If you haven’t spent a fun night in Austin’s Second Street District, you’re missing out on a hip, walkable part of the Capitol City. With a host of restaurants (like Second Bar + Kitchen), you can plan dinner and a show just about any night of the week. We’re bringing you up close and personal with Taverna, which sits across from the famed ACL Live. This recipe is perfect for a mother/daughter evening (like we did), date night, ladies night or any excuse to enjoy life! Slide right for the perfect pair!
With it's dim lighting, hearty Italian choices and outstanding customer service, you can't beat Taverna.
In addition to daily specials, this 2nd St. District favorite frequently offers special Wine Pairing dinners.
Taverna's happy hour 4-7pm M-F features drink specials plus discounted appetizers and pizzas. ( beer, wine and cocktails.) Try a mojito, fully loaded or mocktail.
Taverna is a warm and inviting neighborhood restaurant that offers a truly Italian experience with appetizers like burrata & tomato salad.
Taverna's Nutella Marble Cheesecake with cherries = the best dessert ever!
Taverna's dark chocolate mousse with peanut butter, a dessert worthy of a special night.
Enjoy ACL Live; and note the opening band before any show. Typically, it's worth getting there early. We enjoyed the opener---ZZ Ward, an American musician, singer and songwriter.
"Growing up, I listened to a lot of hip hop and blues, and I love those two genres so much." ACL Live's opener, ZZ Ward.
Get up close and personal with new acts at ACL Live. ZZ Ward released her debut EP, Criminal, in 2012, and shared some of those songs with us.
ACL Live brings in top acts. Kaleo, an Icelandic blues/rock band, headlined September 29.
The ACL Live crowd was wowed by Kaleo's lead guitarist, Rubin Pollock.
ACL Live's audience was full of fans of Kaleo's lead vocalist and guitarist, JJ Julius Son.
Austin welcomed Kaleo with cheers, singing along throughout their act. “It has obviously been a big change coming from Iceland, a small country of 300,000 people, to the USA, with over 300 million people,” says JJ Julius Son.
Songs like "Way Down We Go" feature drummer David Antonsson and bassist Daniel Kristjansson.
Kaleo formed in Mosfellsbaer in 2012.
Fans can sense the long-term connection; Kaleo has been playing together since age 17. Visit officialkaleo.com for more tour dates.
