Leave it to illustrious Major League Baseball Hall of Famer turned savvy businessman Nolan Ryan to introduce lucky Texans to the concept of a full-service boutique butcher shop.
That’s right, the Goodstock by Nolan Ryan retail venture from Texas-born and -raised Ryan offers a unique experience. It is slated to be your new favorite “destination store”—just in time for backyard summer grilling.
At the store, where the slogan is “Good, Every Dang Day,” customers can purchase from two new lines of Goodstock beef, custom cut by an in-house butcher, as well as an array of complementary Texas-sourced artisan products. (Goodstock is also the newest product line from Nolan Ryan Brands–which was founded by Ryan–that includes fresh beef, grilling provisions and home goods.)
“I’ve been raising cattle for over 40 years and on the beef production side of things for 20 years, so I thought it was high-time to make custom beef cuts available to the community,” says Ryan about the reasoning behind the recent addition in Round Rock.
What makes Ryan most excited about the store is that it’s not only an opportunity to sell quality beef, but also an opportunity to educate customers on beef selection and preparation. “We go to a lot of effort to ensure our beef is tender and flavorful every time, so we want to give our customers all the right information and tools for a great experience at their table,” says Ryan. And, by featuring many local producers and artisans in the store, “it’s a true Texas collaboration.”
With online purchases available from August, Goodstock by Nolan Ryan will soon serve pick-up, delivery and online customers. Additionally, barbecue aficionados will be able to receive sage advice about meat preparation and grilling techniques.
Situated near well-known Round Rock landmarks such as Dell Diamond, Old Settler’s Sports Complex, and the soon-to-be-opening Kalahari Hotel/Convention Center & Indoor Waterpark, Reese Ryan, Chairman of the board of Nolan Ryan Brands, explained that the Ryans wanted to continue to support the community of Round Rock by the store’s location. “We envision this store being a destination for visitors from other cities and states when they visit Central Texas, so we placed it squarely at the heart of other attractions.”
