Ember & Greens brings healthy dining to the heart of Houston’s Memorial neighborhood.

Featuring fresh and made from scratch dishes, there is no need to watch calories while eating at the newest restaurant from mother and son duo Nadereh Ahly and Iman Yarjani.

The restaurant is light and bright with plenty of bar, booth and table seating, and the menu features modern American cuisine with international influences.

Ember & Greens is appealing for the whole family and has a variety of options including fresh salads, flatbreads, sandwiches and wraps, hearty entrees, shareable sides and desserts. The dishes are all made with high-quality, local ingredients and range from healthy comfort food to clean options. The menu has a variety of choices for meat-eaters, vegans and vegetarians alike.

There are so many great appetizer options, it will be hard not to order them all. The Sriracha Cauliflower Bites are delicious and don’t let the name fool you – although they do have a kick to them, they are not overly spicy. The Spinach and Cilantro Hummus is fresh and satisfying, but the Picadillo Samosas can’t be missed. Stuffed with ground turkey, potatoes, spices and wrapped in a pastry – they are delicious with or without the cucumber yogurt sauce.

If you only order one appetizer the Picadillo Samosa should be it. Photo courtesy Ember & Greens

The salads are all customizable with your choice of protein: chicken, chickpeas, shrimp, salmon or beef tenderloin. They are large in size and have a great variety of fruits, cheeses and veggies. Ember & Greens also offers several wraps and sandwiches that are great for lunch or dinner. (Editor’s note: See the Chipotle Chickpea Wrap featured at the top of this article.)

Ember Entrees

A menu staple and crowd favorite is the Citrus Chicken. Spiced with turmeric and cinnamon, the dish is served on a bed of roasted vegetables along with a side salad. What makes this dish stand out is its spice-filled homage to Ember & Greens owners’ Middle Eastern Roots. Healthy and hearty, the Quinoa Bowl is filled with all our favorites, and it is easy (but not necessary) to add a protein to the bowl if you’d like. Add a glass of wine or beer on tap to anything on the menu, and you’ll have yourself a genuinely satisfying meal.

Ember & Greens offers so many healthy and fresh options, but they also have an indulgent side, as well. Parmesan Truffle Fries, Roasted Bacon Mac & Cheese, and Amy’s ice cream just to name a few. There is definitely something on the menu for everyone.
