Central Texas Celebrates the Fourth of July

The pinnacle of summer has arrived: Fourth of July! Since July 4th falls on a Monday this year, many people will be celebrating with a long holiday weekend. So put on your red, white & blue and check out a few of the many celebrations happening around the Austin area!

AUSTIN

If you’re wondering where to watch Fourth of July fireworks in downtown Austin, then keep Austin Marriott Downtown and their rooftop terrace Zanzibar in mind. Guests of the hotel or Zanzibar will have the best views of the firework show from either their lush tropical rooftop terrace or from their Corner Guest Rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows.

The iconic Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt in the heart of Downtown Austin is also gearing up for an epic weekend aptly titled “Red, White and Blues.” Enjoy live music at Geraldine’s, the acclaimed live music venue, restaurant and bar inside Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt all weekend long through July 4. Hotel guests and Geraldine’s diners will be able to join the festivities on the pool deck free of charge. Outside guests who wish to view the fireworks show at this venue can purchase tickets for $50 through ResortPass.

DRIPPING SPRINGS 

Dreamland, the outdoor entertainment, recreation and arts venue in Dripping Springs, is hosting a celebration on Saturday, July 2nd with live music from Bob Schneider and Pat Byrne ending with a fireworks show. There will be plenty of family fun throughout the day with a splash pad and playscape for kids, along with jumbo jenga, cornhole, an art walk and more. Dreamland’s amazing and innovative mini golf courses, premium pickleball, and disc golf are also available for purchase. Food and drink specials will be available all day. The beer garden has a great selection of beer, wine and cocktails, not to mention many tasty food options.

General admission tickets for the Independence Day celebration are $25. VIP tickets are $100 and include drinks, private backstage viewing and mini golf. Tickets for children 12 and under are $10 and free for those 5 and under. Patrons are welcome to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the live entertainment and fireworks show but are asked to please not bring umbrellas.  

Dreamland will also be open on Monday, July 4th from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. for anyone who can’t make it on Saturday but would still like to celebrate the holiday in the Hill Country. There will be plenty of tasty treats and specials, including local favorites Kate’s Soft Serve and the Tiff’s Treats truck, along with new menu additions and the special “Firecracker” cocktail.

ROUND  ROCK

Round Rock’s annual Parade and Frontier Days celebration is back this year! They will celebrate Independence Day on Monday, July 4th with a full day of free patriotic activities for all ages including a parade, festival, carnival, music, and fireworks. The Sertoma Independence Day Parade will start at 8:30 a.m. and feature giant helium and cold air inflatables, and community group performances. The parade will take place on the 1.5-mile route along Mays Street between Mays Crossing and Highway 79.

At noon, the celebration continues at Frontier Days at Old Settlers Park with carnival rides, music, Swifty Swine Racing Pigs, vendors and more. The event will conclude with fireworks at dark.
