It was a lovely afternoon in Downtown Austin, as several shops opened their doors in celebration of Mother’s Day and Fashion X Austin’s 9th Fashion Week, which kicked off over the weekend at the exclusive 800 Congress venue for an invite-only premiere screening of Style Queen’s first episode. While many Austinites were celebrating graduations and Mother’s Day, there is no shortage of festivities. Most of shop specials started at noon and ran through 5 PM.

Highlights from Modcloth

Modcloth, Sikara & Co, and Hemline each had a featured artist/designer trunk show, with a few complimentary munchies and drinks. Amanda Dimova of Vinca was demonstrating her process, hosting a vote for customer favorites, and giving away gorgeous samples in Modcloth’s party, which included live music, pastel popcorn, and Mother’s Day manicures. Fans and style-watchers alike should keep an eye open for her new studio on East 5th, opening this October. She makes everything locally and in-house, having partnered with Modcloth for just over a year, and selling with other partner retailers such as the New York Public Library and the Museum of Ice Cream.

Jodi Rae with Eliza Page showed off a unique and beautiful collection of handmade jewelry with some unusual stones and settings, including the obscure blue goldstone made exclusively by Italian monks, which she tends to pick up at tradeshows.

Highlights from League of Rebels

Amanda Deer Jewelry took center stage at travel-themed accessory boutique Sikara & Co. Featuring simple, dainty statement jewelry from stone-drop necklaces to adjustable, engravable rings, everything here is made in her East District studio. And Lee Merritt was showing at Hemline this afternoon, with a classic swimwear line right in-step with this Austin weather.

Luxe Apothetique had some unique happenings, from a live DJ and dessert bar to an actual Tarot card reader, as well as an exclusive discount on any color service during Fashion Week. Not to leave the men out, League of Rebels kept it classy with a wine and cheese bar, DJ Gatsby spinning, and an exclusive 10% discount. Bonobos is also offering 20% off first time orders for new clients.

Out of all of the 2nd St Soirèes on this Sartorial Saturday, these were the most active, and seemed to draw the most crowds. For a full schedule of events, check out fashionxaustin.com Stay tuned for more live coverage by TLM, and checkout @katwolfewren on Instagram & Twitter.
