Every gals group needs a getaway once in a while and Houston is the perfect place to choose! Especially when you have the opportunity to be in the heart of downtown, the possibilities are endless.

Where to Stay

Located in the prime location of Downtown Houston is The Laura Hotel. This recently-opened hotel is not only the perfect getaway for a high class weekend with the girlies but it is also great for business trips, especially if you need a place to stay that is in close proximity to downtown attractions. They also offer a valet service which is incredibly convenient so you don’t have to worry about Houston parking.

Some of their amenities include a beautiful rooftop pool overlooking the city that includes bar service, a fitness center, and a cool lobby bar that has live music on Friday nights from 5-8 p.m.

The Laura also has a restaurant on property called Hull and Oak Southern Kitchen. The bright and fun interior with touches of mint green add to the restaurant’s southern vibe. The dishes are great for sharing and their southern classics are even more fun family style. On Saturdays and Sundays brunch is offered from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., where you can dine while listening to a DJ. If you want a more tranquil atmosphere, you can enjoy their brunch menu in the lobby bar which has many cool options for seating. Enjoy bottomless mimosas with your brunch for only $20. Hull and Oak is open for breakfast everyday as well.

Where to Hang

The Blossom Hotel is located in the medical district, close to attractions such as NRG, The Houston Museum District, and The Houston Zoo. This chic, new luxury hotel is a great place to grab evening drinks. Their Lobby bar, RendezVu, not only has incredible drinks but the atmosphere fits the girls weekend persona with fun pink chairs that make the lobby pop.

If you happen to find yourself in Houston this Sunday, Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., The Blossom will be hosting their monthly “Yoga & Bubbles” event. This relaxing yoga session overlooking the city landscape is created in partnership with TruFusion Post Oak, Reset by Therabody and Madame Zéro. The class is 45 minutes and there will be refreshing glasses of bubbly available after from Madame Zéro, gourmet bites, chances to win fun prizes from the sponsors, and all guests will have access to their rooftop pool for the rest of the day. The tickets are $25 and the link is here to purchase.

If you are looking for a different vibe for drinks, Pete’s Piano Bar, which is about a five minute walk from The Laura, is a fun choice. If you haven’t been to a piano bar before, the concept is that people request songs and the performer performs the song. Pete’s has a fun twist because there are two performers at a time and there is usually a lot of audience engagement and just an all around good time, especially if you love to sing along.

Where to Relax

The Spa at The Laura Hotel is known for delivering personalized service from their expansive menu. The Swedish massage is especially good if you work at a desk or just have tightness. Any issue you may have, you can talk to your therapist beforehand and they are really good about focusing on those areas leaving you feeling relaxed and recharged. You have to ask yourself, would it really be a girls weekend without a spa appointment?

If you haven’t seen your girl squad in awhile, this is the sign that you should plan a weekend soon!
