Nestled just north of College Station, Bryan, Texas, is often overshadowed by its sister city, but make no mistake, this historic town has a personality all its own.
Trains still hum through the heart of downtown, but today, they share the stage with lively restaurants, local boutiques, vibrant art, and a weekend energy that makes Bryan a worthy getaway.
Where to Stay

Start your trip by checking into The LaSalle Hotel, a historic boutique hotel that’s been serving Bryan since 1928 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located in the middle of downtown, The LaSalle beautifully blends old Texas charm with modern flair. Its newly renovated lobby pops with color and texture, featuring chic seating and a digital art-inspired clock that grabs your attention the moment you check in.
For breakfast, don’t miss a meal at Station 56, the hotel’s in-house restaurant. Their breakfast chilaquiles and fresh coffee were a standout way to start the day.
The Perfect Day in Bryan

Start with a walk around Lake Walk, just 12 minutes from downtown. If you’re feeling active, join the free community yoga at The Pavilion (Saturdays, 8–9 a.m.) for an energizing way to kick off your day.

Afterward, grab a latte at POV Coffee House and swing by the Farmers’ Market in Brazos County (500 N Main St). Every Saturday, local farmers and artisans come together to sell produce, crafts, and baked goods — it’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and savor the moment.

Next, take your time exploring Historic Downtown Bryan. Wander through boutiques, step inside Catalena Hatters for a peek at handcrafted cowboy hats, or stop by Hush & Whisper Distillery for a tour and tasting. Just around the corner, Lonestar Meadery offers laid-back vibes and creative cocktails. Or take a stroll along the Aggieland Art Trail, where colorful murals and installations bring the local art scene to life across Bryan and College Station.

If wine is more your speed, plan a visit to Messina Hof Estate Winery, open Wednesday through Sunday. Their award-winning tastings, festive events like April’s Wine & Roses Festival, and summer Harvest Festival grape-stomping make it a can’t-miss.
Foodie Favorites in Bryan
From trendy taco joints to local pizzerias, Bryan’s food scene is low-key but loaded with flavor.

Taco Crave is a small walk-up spot where you build your own tacos or bowls with fresh, flavorful ingredients. Perfect for a quick lunch on the go.

Third on Main, just across the street from The LaSalle, is a local favorite for breakfast. We recommend grabbing a protein-packed breakfast bowl or indulging in the cornbread pancakes. Get there early on weekends because it can fill up fast!

RX Pizza brings a youthful energy with its hip decor and bold pizzas. It’s a go-to for college students and locals alike.

We stumbled upon Mr. G’s Pizzeria on a Saturday night and were blown away. It is the perfect hidden gem. Super cozy, no wait, and accompanied by live jazz. We loved the Pomodoro pizza (gluten-free crust available!), the generous lasagna, and the crisp salads.

Blackwater Draw Brewing Co. is just a short walk from the hotel and offers a strong lineup of house-made craft beers. They have a good grapefruity IPA and paired with Parmesan truffle fries from the on-site food truck makes for an incredible lunch combo. They also serve ciders and wine for non-beer drinkers.
Whether you’re planning a quiet weekend escape or just passing through, Bryan makes it easy to slow down and soak it all in. With its rich history, yummy food scene, and welcoming local charm, this hidden gem invites you to explore, unwind, and experience a different pace of Texas living.
