With August now upon us, it seems that summer is over. Our thoughts turn to school supplies and class schedules and that busy pace of school-year life. But that doesn’t mean time has run out on us just yet.

JW Marriot

The Hill Country is in the heart of Texas, which means the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa is in the prime location for all Texans. August doesn’t have to signal the end of summer, but instead, time for one last staycay! JWMSA has something for everyone, and is an easy drive to many Hill Country destinations, like downtown San Antonio or historic Fredericksburg. Perfect for one last summer hoorah!

For the Golfer:

golf course

The JWMSA opened in 2010, along with the prestigious TPC San Antonio, a 2,800-acre premier golf course that plays host to the Valero Texas Open and the AT&T Championship. The TPC (Tournament Players Club), one of only three places in the world to host two PGA events a year, is open only to members and JWMSA guests.

For the Kids:

art

They’ll think they’re at the best summer camp ever, with nightly S’mores by the campfire and activities such as cookie decorating, bead bazaar and stargazing. Check out the schedule of events and locations through September 3: Craft and Activity Schedule

For the Swimmers:

lazy river

With six acres of waterpark exclusive to guests only, the whole family will find fun and relaxation at the River Bluff Water Experience. Be sure to hit the lazy river and tube slides with the kids, but if you’re more interested in peace and quiet while soaking and sunning, there are adult-only pools and lounge areas as well. The Rivertop Grill is available for food and drinks, so you could easily spend the whole day swimming!

For the Spa Seeker:

lantana spa

The Lantana Spa, recently voted as having the “Favorite Spa Treatment Menu” offers signature JWM organic treatments, but also embraces the local Mexican-American influence, with native Hill Country herbs such as lavender and sarsaparilla. Day passes, aromatherapy, yoga classes, a vegan nail salon and more are open to resort guests as well as locals. Also check out the Replenish Bistro, an organic restaurant featuring meals, fruit smoothies and wine.

For the Foodie:

high velocity

The JWMSA provides farm-to-table dining, with a 5,000 square-foot garden on the grounds providing many fruits, vegetables and herbs. All other restaurant food items are found locally, making for a true Texas Hill Country dining experience. The Cibolo Moon offers casual dining and Texas’ first bar certified by Mexico’s Tequila Regulatory Commission. Also try 18 Oaks for fine dining, and High Velocity with a 125-foot TV for the best in sports viewing. Of course there’s always room service if you’re wiped out from golf and swimming!

As if the golf, spa, food and water park weren’t enough to convince you to visit, it’s important to mention that JWMSA acknowledges their responsibility to maintain the 600-acre property with creative ways to be green. In addition to their gardens for farm-to-table dining, they also landscape with native Hill Country plants and shrubs to limit water usage, and they have partnered with organizations that recycle or reuse items such as glass for art, soaps for women’s shelters here and abroad, and even food scraps for local wildlife sanctuaries.

The JWMSA is a unique Hill Country experience with so much to do in and around the resort.  Wherever you live, it’s close enough for one last summer getaway!
