Hold my beer, Mark Cuban and Jerry Jones; Frisco is growing into the ultimate sports destination!

Part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, Frisco is the fastest growing city in Texas and the sixth fastest growing city in the nation. No longer a mere suburb of Dallas, Frisco is now home to multiple professional sports teams, national and international athletic organizations, world-class facilities, prestigious sports medicine and rehabilitation centers, and an emerging esports community.

Alongside Frisco’s boom, tourists globally have come to expect hospitality that supports their active lifestyle. Enter, The Westin Stonebriar. Frisco’s first hotel decided to evolve with the city through a wellness renovation set to the tune of $30 million. Thanks to that budget, they’ve managed to retain old charm and laid-back luxury while adding eco-friendly upgrades and wellness enhancements in every facet. All the way to a Peloton bike in the room!

Green and More Outdoors & In

The Westin Stonebriar sits on the city’s edge, a stone’s throw away from Plano, the social hub of DFW.  The location and acreage was perfect for a luxury golf course. An 18-hole Fazio-designed golf course is adjacent to the property and available for guest use. The views of the golf course are picturesque from the newly manicured event lawn, sure to entice brides and grooms when wedding season picks up again.

To the right of the event lawn, which Westin Stonebriar calls the “garden” and “garden terrace,” there’s a resort-style pool with private cabanas, poolside bar, a waterslide (that measures up to the cliche “everything’s bigger in Texas”), and a splash pad.

Chances are, if splishin’ and splashin’ are the actions compelling you to this destination, you’re traveling with children. Lucky for you, the Westin Family Kids Club will be available this summer for your childcare needs. Your kids will be in good care, enjoying tons of fun activities—including a LEGO wall and mini treehouse—so that they sleep like rocks at night. Knowing they’re safe and entertained, you can enjoy some adult wellness, however you define it!

Before you pack your pool noodles and puddle jumpers, the pool is also still under construction.  Opening is expected in Spring 2021. If the pool is your make-or-break, contact the resort prior to making your reservation to be sure it’s make-a-splash ready.

To the left of the event lawn, there’s green space for outdoor yoga and al fresco fitness classes.  Outdoor fitness and wellness programming is an initiative that was already trending pre-COVID then skyrocketed with the tailwind of the times. Social distancing is simple when doing your sun salutations on this expansive yard.

If indoors is more of your preference for your sweat sesh, step right inside to the newly transformed WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio (completed late 2020). All within a couple steps of your Heavenly Bed with pillowtop mattress. If you really want to “carpe diem,” you’ll want to book the Stonebriar Suite. It has a Peloton room, two bedrooms, and a large terrace with pergola—-absolutely perfect for sunrise yoga!  The Stonebriar Suite sits on a footprint of over 2,000 square feet! It will cost you over $1,000 a night even if you snag an off-season deal, but if the lux life is your jam, pay the cost and live like a boss.

En-Suite Golf

We have to mention a new hotel addition that may make for a very fun pre-party to your corporate event or stag party: the TopGolf Swing Suite. This indoor studio hosts a virtual golf simulator and can be rented for the ridiculously low price of $75/hour ($50/hour during non-peak hours) with no minimum time commitment. If you go over your hour and there’s no reservation behind you, just extend your reservation!  Booking can be done through OpenTable.

Dining Choices

You will not go hungry while lodging at The Westin Stonebriar. Options include a full-service dining option (Herd and Hearth), a speakeasy bar-seating or seat-yourself restaurant (Beans and Barrel), and a grab-and-go healthy snack cooling unit, which also has a fine array of nice wines, including this wine-lover’s personal fave: The Prisoner Chardonnay. Beans and Barrell offers custom coffee of your choice in the mornings with a barista on staff, ready to whip up your desired espresso beverage.

Rooms & Suites

The guest rooms have a Texas feel with a Scandanavian twist. Every room has a sliding barn door that separates the bathroom from the rest of the facilities. Designers decorated each room with warm, earthy tones. There are an array of options for room types and suites, including Traditional King, Deluxe King and many more. ProTip: The only difference between traditional rooms and deluxe rooms is that traditional have courtyard views of the front of the hotel and deluxe have golf course views. If the view is neither here nor there for you, save a buck and go traditional.

With 302 guest rooms and suites, The Westin Stonebriar offers a variety of wide variety of accommodation. Pictured, a Traditional Room. Courtesy photo

Even being a larger hotel (302 guest rooms), we found that The Westin Stonebriar delivers a personalized hospitality experience, generally found in boutique hotels half its size.
