San Diego, with its sunny beaches, vibrant culture, and culinary prowess, offers the perfect setting for a weekend escape. Whether you’re a foodie, a culture enthusiast, or simply seeking a laid-back vacation, this coastal gem has something to offer for everyone. Let’s embark on a thrilling weekend adventure in San Diego, exploring the city’s culinary tour, cultural experiences, and lively nightlife.

Day 1: Exploring La Jolla’s Culinary Gems with So Diego

Kickstart your weekend in style with a culinary tour in the picturesque seaside neighborhood of La Jolla, hosted by the innovative team at So Diego. This locally owned and operated tour company curates unique and immersive experiences that blend arts, culture, and entertainment with some of the area’s finest eateries and hidden gems. We enjoyed an exceptional experience and gastronomic journey on the “Sip, Savor & Sea” tour. Our excursion began at La Jolla Cove, with its breathtaking coastal views and adorable sea lions. From there we walked along the quaint streets of La Jolla, learning interesting tidbits of information about the community as we made our way to each of the local restaurants. (Dr. Seuss lived and wrote in La Jolla for over 40 years.) Our culinary journey offered a delightful blend of flavors that represent the essence of San Diego’s diverse culinary landscape. We enjoyed pasta with wine at La Dolce Vita, tacos and a margarita at Puesto, spanakopita with hummus and sangria at Spiro’s and ended on a sweet note with a scoop of gelato at Bobboi.

After an afternoon of indulging in exquisite culinary delights, head to Raised by Wolves for a sophisticated and unforgettable evening. This iconic theater institution is known for its outstanding productions. We enjoyed a matinee performance of the play “Love All,” a captivating story about the rise of tennis great Billie Jean King. La Jolla Playhouse’s dedication to producing thought-provoking and groundbreaking productions guarantees an enriching experience that will leave you inspired.

Day 2: Exploring the Gaslamp District and Dinner at barleymash

As the sun sets, head to San Diego’s historic Gaslamp District, a bustling hub of entertainment and nightlife. Stroll through the lively streets lined with trendy boutiques, bars, and restaurants. For dinner, make a reservation at barleymash, a popular gastropub known for its innovative dishes and impressive selection of craft beers and cocktails. Indulge in hearty comfort food like their popular Iron Fries. The vibrant atmosphere at barleymash sets the perfect backdrop for a delightful evening of delicious food and good company.
