Southern California checks every box for dreamy destinations: sunshine, surf, and laid-back luxury. But if you are looking for a place that blends small-town charm with big-time beauty, Carlsbad is calling your name.

Where to Stay: Beachfront Bliss at Beach Terrace Inn

Nestled on the coast, Beach Terrace Inn is one of the few boutique hotels offering direct access to Carlsbad’s beach. Nicknamed “The Little Hotel on the Beach,” this 1960s-era gem brings timeless charm and modern comfort to every stay.

During my visit, I stayed in the Pool Terrace King Room, which is equally cozy and chic. From the rainfall shower and breakfast nook to the ocean-front balcony and pillow menu (side-sleepers, rejoice!), every detail was thoughtfully curated for relaxation.

Pro Tip: Order the Salmon Stack or Nutella toast with a Stumpton Cold Brew and enjoy the stunning view from your private balcony.

Guests can also enjoy:

  • Complimentary breakfast in the lobby
  • Access to a Game Library (perfect for families or a little nostalgia)
  • Evening fireside lounging at the poolside firepits

Each spring, 55 acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus burst into bloom in a stunning, rainbow-hued display (think of the meadow scene from the classic movie Wizard of Oz). Open from early March through early May, the Flower Fields are one of the most picturesque attractions in SoCal.
