Just an hour and a half from the Round Rock area, Horseshoe Bay Resort is the perfect end-of-summer/fall retreat.

Nestled on the shores of the constant-level Lake LBJ, this Hill Country haven offers an easy getaway that feels worlds away. With Texas’ warm weather stretching well into the fall, the resort’s multiple pools and lakefront setting make it an ideal place to soak up fun and relaxation.

Signature Residences: A New Way to Stay

One of the most exciting updates at Horseshoe Bay Resort is the addition of the brand-new Signature Residences. These upscale accommodations provide all the comforts of home with the luxury of a resort. During our stay, we enjoyed a three-bedroom, two-bath residence that featured a modern kitchen, spacious living and dining areas, and a large private patio perfect for morning coffee or sunset views with a cool class of wine. The setup is ideal for families or small groups, with two guest bedrooms (one with a king and the other with a full) and a master suite that boasts a king bed and oversized bathroom. I could have spent much more time in this condo!

Endless Activities for Every Guest

Horseshoe Bay Resort makes it easy to be as active, or as relaxed, as you want. Families love the Whitewater Putting Course, an 18-hole real-grass miniature course that glows at night under LED lights. The famous Waterfront Floating Pool offers another unique experience, set right on the lake with food and beverage service and private shaded daybeds available for rent. The Splash Safari Aqua Park, next to the Yacht Club pool, brings inflatable fun to the lake for kids and adults alike.

The marina is the gateway to unforgettable lake adventures. Guests can reserve a captained pontoon for a sunset cruise, complete with serene views of the surrounding Hill Country and stunning lakefront homes. The resort also keeps its activity calendar full with dive-in movies, s’mores by the firepits, silent disco dance parties, and family-friendly events like scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, lawn games, and rubber ducky races. Even a visit to the exotic birds on display, offered on weekends, adds a special touch to the resort’s lively atmosphere.

Pools, Golf, and Racquet Sports

Pools are central to the Horseshoe Bay experience. From the family-friendly Tower Pool to the exclusive Yacht Club Pool available to select guests, there’s a spot for every style of relaxation.

Golfers will find themselves in paradise with three championship Robert Trent Jones Sr. courses, as well as the aforementioned  Whitewater Putting Course and a state-of-the-art Golf Academy.

Tennis and pickleball players also have plenty to enjoy, with 26 courts nestled into the rolling hills, including 6 clay and 6 hard courts, and 14 pickleball courts lit for nighttime play.

Dining with a View

Dining is a highlight at Horseshoe Bay Resort, with options that range from casual to refined. Whitewater 360, located by the putting course, is a lively sports bar serving pizzas (we enjoyed the chicken bacon ranch), salads, and shareable bites alongside a wide array of Texas craft beers and cocktails/mocktails. J’s Restaurant, located near the hotel lobby, is the go-to breakfast destination with both a generous buffet featuring everything from breakfast tostadas and biscuits with gravy to jalapeño sausage and cheesy eggs and à la carte options.

For dinner, the Waterfront Bar & Grill pairs lakeside views with live music on weekends. Menu favorites include shrimp tacos, fried rice, and fried shrimp, while brunch here is a can’t-miss experience highlighted by sugar-dusted doughnut holes with chocolate and vanilla dipping sauces. Their hearty options include a smoked salmon benedict and breakfast flautas.

A Texas Getaway for Every Season

As summer winds down and fall begins, Horseshoe Bay Resort is the perfect place to celebrate the end of the season—or to plan a Hill Country escape any time of year.
