If you love a good game of pickleball or get excited by tennis drills, Horseshoe Bay Resort in the Texas Hill Country is the place to be.

This resort near Marble Falls now boasts the Mouratoglou Tennis Center — the first of its kind in the U.S. — with six red clay courts, six hard tennis courts, and 14 dedicated pickleball courts.

World-renowned French tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, who coached Serena Williams for a decade, celebrated the grand opening of his first U.S. facility remotely from the French Open on June 1.

“With its incredible variety of unique experiences and amenities, Horseshoe Bay Resort provides an ideal setting to elevate tennis to its highest level. By implementing our methodology, we aim to not only enhance the tennis experience but also to amplify Texas’ strong presence in the tennis world,” Mouratoglou said.

The Horseshoe Bay Resort tennis center joins an elite global brand with tennis centers in Nice, Dubai, Costa Navarino, Kuala Lumpur, Sardinia and Beijing.

Israel Castillo, the director of racquet sports at Horseshoe Bay Resort, says this new Texas center “puts us on the map globally.” It aims to be the next big destination in the U.S. for racquet sports.

“We are thrilled to partner with Mouratoglou in the creation of the Mouratoglou Tennis Center at Horseshoe Bay Resort,” Castillo said. “This collaboration underscores our commitment to offering unparalleled experiences and becoming a premier destination for tennis enthusiasts worldwide.”

Bring the Whole Family To Enjoy Horseshoe Bay Resort

Horseshoe Bay is about an hour northwest of Austin, and the gorgeous, winding hill country drive to the resort is enough to put anyone in the vacation mood. When you arrive, there is plenty for the entire family to enjoy. Here are a few highlights.

Reserve 90 minutes to race around this floating inflatable obstacle course. It’s slippery and you may well slide right into the lake, but that’s half the fun.

Whitewater Putting Course

Put your mini golf skills to the test on this scenic 18-hole course with bunkers and water hazards. Stop by in the morning to say hello to Mingo, the resident flamingo, and other exotic birds like Rio the Macaw. Return at night for free s’mores at the fire pit. You can choose from four flavors, including PB&J.

Adults can stop by the Mingo’s Cafe booze bike, serving ready-to-drink cocktails, beer, and wine.

Waterfront Floating Pool

Book a cabana on the deck of the only floating pool in North America, right on the edge of Lake LBJ. You can order food and drinks by the water or head next door to the Waterfront Bar & Grill for craft cocktails, seafood, and burgers. Enjoy live music while you dine on select evenings.
