Los Cabos—an endless romantic excursion where the sea and Sierra meet, and the town hums with cultural charm. From the minds of Mexico Grand Hotels, an independent family-owned hotel group, comes Kadún Boutique Hotel, a tribute to Cabo’s history, gastronomy, and timeless romantic spirit.

Opened in December 2025, Kadún beams with the magic of Baja California Sur in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, creating a cultural sanctuary perfectly positioned near the destination’s most beloved landmarks.

A Walk Through Time and Tradition

Kadún, in the native language, means “cactus,” an ode to the long-lasting, enduring, and life-giving spirit that guests will find during their stay. Before going too far inside Kadún, you’ll notice that its entrance and lobby are like a gallery paying homage to the indigenous peoples that once roamed Baja California Sur, the Pericúes, the Guaycura, and the Cochimíes. At the front door stands a statue depicting the noble Pericú, which serves not only as a tribute to the roots of Baja California Sur but also to the hotel’s vision.

Once inside, the walls come to life with an original mural depicting the native peoples and the early missionary settlers. Here, handcrafted goods such as potteries and baskets weave a traditional Mexican style with contemporary sophistication, further bridging past and present into their hospitality. Also, among the lobby’s traditional décor and Mexican art is Amia, a small café that offers Starbucks coffee along with local pastries.

A Bright, Cozy, and Sustainable Place to Rest

Boasting no more than 110 rooms, Kadún’s rooms offer a special combination of sunlit coziness and awe-inspiring views, whether it’s ocean-facing or town-immersive. If traveling with families or large groups, the rooms can connect to create a suite, enabling easy movement and connectivity among family and friends.

With sustainability at the forefront, each Kadún room includes a large refillable carafe, with filtered water stations conveniently located on every floor. It’s a simple yet thoughtful touch that saves both money and hassle, perfect for morning coffee, beach‑day hydration, or recovery after a night out.

Umbral Rooftop Restaurant and Pool

Perched high above the surrounding rooftops, Kadún’s rooftop reveals some of its most impressive offerings: a gym with sweeping Sierra views, a sun-drenched pool and hot tub overlooking the lively district below, and Umbral, the hotel’s second restaurant serving Baja California Sur–inspired tapas and cocktails.

From anywhere on the rooftop, you’ll find the Sierras in view, enveloping the coastal town as a cool mountain breeze offers reprieve during the summer months. Amid the sprawling Sierra and townscape, pockets of greenery add a sense of naturalism and calmness in a thriving tourist town.

The rooftop’s most breathtaking moment unfolds at the pool, where shimmering waters frame a striking glimpse of Land’s End, the iconic rock formation that cradles the Arch, Los Cabos’ most celebrated landmark. From this picture-perfect vantage point, guests can take in two oceans at once: the Pacific stretching out to the right, powerful and vast, and the tranquil Sea of Cortez dazzling to the left. It’s a rare, cinematic seascape, converging two worlds that transform a simple poolside pause into a signature Cabo memory.

Savia: A Culinary Celebration of Cabo

On the bottom floor, through the lobby and to the right past Amia, is Savia, Kadún’s flagship restaurant. Named after the water that resides within the cactus plant, Kadún’s menu is an extension of that rooted native identity, modernized with contemporary techniques.

Savia has many highlights. The octopus, fished from the shores of Los Cabos, is an exquisite, beautifully presented tostada that packs a lot of flavors with slow-roasted chilis and fresh avocado. The birria is a wonderful entrée, slow-cooked and steaming with a pungent meaty aroma. It comes paired with a fresh dash of cilantro and onions, accompanied by a thick, richly spiced sauce.

One of my favorites is the Roasted Oysters, a Cabo staple served hot and steaming with a tangy and smoky mezcal BBQ sauce, a wonderful gastronomy that will excite most Texan palettes. Drop by for a morning buffet, where a fresh spread of Mexican and continental breakfast awaits, or opt for the à la carte menu. With a small meeting space attached, Savia is perfect for private dinners, reunions, or a more intimate, culturally immersive corporate getaway.

In the Heart of Cabo

Safely located down the block from the Cabo San Lucas Police and Fire Academy, where young cadets can be seen marching, training, and standing sentry in formation, Kadún offers a convenient 5-to-7-minute walk to most tourist destinations in the heart of downtown. A leisurely walk will lead you to Puerto Paraiso Mall, the biggest shopping mall in town, passing street vendors along the way that entice with aromas and sites of sizzling meat. Here, surf storefronts share a roof with luxury brands, offering a wide range of retail options for any occasion.

Going through the mall offers reprieve during the summer months, where the heat will dance off the pavement, also providing a shortcut to the downtown Marina, where bars and restaurants offer family fun during the day and glow for nightlife. Here, you may find yourself looking to schedule a sailing excursion as there are plenty of boating options lined throughout the marina, their white sheet sails folded waiting for your arrival. Such experience is a must, as you have not fully seen Los Cabos unless you’ve seen the famed Arch.

Luxury Sunset Sailing Experience with Cabo Adventures

From snorkeling and dinner cruises to intimate sailing experiences, Cabo Adventures offers life-changing excursions, all just minutes from Kadún’s front doors. Here, you can book a bespoke Cabo experience for any outing, whether it’s family fun or a romantic date. Hope you opt for the latter, as the perfect companion to any romantic Cabo adventure is the Luxury Sunset Sailing Experience.

This experience takes lovers out across the blue waters of the Sea of Cortez, above silvery fish swimming near the surface, where the wind combs through your hair, kicking it wildly as the boat chases the sunset. The first stop is the Arch, of course, where the skilled photographer will perfectly place you in front of the famed Cabo landmark.

Later, you’ll indulge in a plate of apps and toast good times with a cocktail, all carefully made by a charismatic deckhand who endures swaying waves with impeccable balance, ensuring nothing goes awry during this sailing experience. And if you’re lucky, as we were during whale season, you’ll spot a tail breaching the surface or two, and a playful calf lunging through the air.

Spa Escape at Hacienda Encantada

While there’s no shortage of experiences to fulfill the seafaring soul around Kadún, taking a detour to explore Milagro Spa at Hacienda Encantada is worth the short drive. Here, amid a traditional hacienda bursting with Spanish colonial grandeur and sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez, Hacienda Encantada enhances romanticism and wellness with an immersive spa escape. Stop by for an expert massage, where skilled hands release the weight of the world in a setting that evokes serenity and stillness.

A Family of Food and Hospitality

It’s no wonder that the independently owned Mexico Grand Hotel portfolio evolved from a string of successful restaurants into the hospitality leader it is today in Cabo San Lucas. With more than 30 years rooted along the vibrant Marina Boardwalk, the family‑run group now features six distinctive restaurants open to the public—all just minutes from Kadún and steps away from one of their flagship properties, Marina Fiesta Resort & Spa. Among them is Los Deseos Restaurant.

Chocolate Valentine ‘s dessert at Los Deseos.

Serving up contemporary Mexican cuisine with traditional flavors, Los Deseos open-air restaurant invites sights and sounds from the marina, featuring luxury sailboats, white-sheet sails, and the caws of birds floating above. The restaurant’s relaxing interior, with warm lighting, rustic wood tones, and murals, creates an atmosphere full of heartfelt romanticism. We stopped by for a wonderful Valentine’s dinner experience, but truthfully, every night here, with the food, service, and ambiance, feels like a Valentine’s celebration.
