Porch Light Hospitality is a group of renovated guest houses located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.
Staying at one of Porch Light’s three locations around Fredericksburg is the ideal way to settle in for a few days of luxe comfort and relaxation. You can expect a true Fredericksburg getaway experience, with beautiful surroundings, unique shops and restaurants, wineries and art galleries. Whether you’re looking to escape to the wine country, be close to the action of Main Street, or experience a private hill country getaway — Porch Light combines dreamy spaces with the comforts of home.
Their side-project turned flagship property, The Gathering Guesthouses, launched in 2011 when the owners, Michael and Dawsie Meek, decided to renovate an old outbuilding into a guest cottage. What started as a single place for friends and family to visit has grown into a gathering of intimate, beautiful and spaces. The Gathering now offers five units including The Cottage, The Barn, The Hideaway, The Pumphouse and The Farmhouse. Each guest house includes a private outdoor courtyard (a staple for Porch Light properties) including a hot tub, fire pit, TV, outdoor shower and tables/chairs at which to gather.
The Farmhouse, the large home rental, is the perfect place for families and friends to gather. This house offers four bedrooms, multiple living spaces and an expansive outdoor entertainment area for all guests to enjoy, including a private pool, waterfall and outdoor kitchen. An original homestead, the whole property feels private and tucked away like you’re out in the countryside,, but is only one mile from Main Street. The Gathering is a place to take a breath, reflect on nature and reconnect with your loved ones.
Austin Four Twelve is Porch Light’s in-town property, located only one block away from Main Street. This intentionally renovated 1900s home has been restored into three luxe units that combine modern touches with old charm. This upscale property was created as a romantic getaway for couples — with the unique feature of being able to walk to the best local spots in town, including Caliche Coffee and Hondo’s on Main.
No.3 is located on the top floor of Austin Four Twelve and offers a stunning studio layout complete with a private courtyard. Soak in the stand-alone tub, cuddle up on the couch in front of the fireplace and enjoy a glass of wine in the hot tub, all from the complete privacy of your unit.
Behrends Family Homestead is located on Hwy 290 in the center of Fredericksburg wine country. It is an ideal location if you’re planning wine tours and tastings. Set on a historic homestead with wide open spaces and the best hill country views, this location offers a large home (The Oswald) that comfortably sleeps 8, along with three private units designed for couples.
The Oswald is decorated with chic farmhouse design and antiques from the original family that built this home in 1914. The other three units maintain the same original structures, but feature a more upscale, modern design. The Cora, a former farm granary, serves as a romantic getaway for couples looking to relax and reconnect. The Cora’s courtyard opens up to a working field, the perfect backdrop for sharing a glass of wine from grapes grown just down the road. The slower pace and natural beauty of this homestead makes for a refreshing and restorative stay.
